Everyone's favourite funnyman Steve Carell is at his hilarious best as junior congressman Evan Baxter, whose wish to "change the world" is heard by none other than God. Evan Almighty follows on from Bruce Almighty, taking a minor character and putting him front and centre in this movie.

Evan and his family have moved house so that Evan can be a junior congressman, there's friction and home between him and his two sons and nerves at work as he tries to fit in. Then one day out of the blue he gets a delivery and ends up meeting God (once again played by Morgan Freeman) who tells him that a flood is coming and he has to build an ark. Hilarity ensues as Evan tries to do his job whilst having a beard and robes forced upon him.

I like Evan Almighty much more than Bruce Almighty, simply because I feel that this film has a better moral to the story and I like the humour better as it isn't as crude. I do like how the flood isn't like the biblical version, but there is still a flood, both literally and figuratively which provides a fun scene with some decent special effects. I do like the family feel to this and the 'family member realizes where they are lacking in the family' aspect of movies.

I really like Evan Almighty, it's a fun movie and a good family film.

I really enjoyed this movie and it is great for a laugh! It makes a fantastic family movie that everyone can enjoy and as it has nothing overly bad for young people, no sex, or swearing, or violence whatsoever so it is a safe choice. My daughter loved the movie especially all the animals in the movie I think that was the highlight for her as the story of Noah and the Arc wouldn't even be known to her.

Although it is a modernised story telling of the biblical story Noah and the Arc and the character Evan talks to god there isn't really any other christian themes so you don't feel you are watching a religious movie.

In the movie Evan the senator gets a visit from God telling him to build an arc and every attempt he makes to try and ignore the messages just slip past as it is a task he must do. People think he is crazy building the wooden arc day and night but in the end it changes Evan for the better.

A really great movie and I would recommend to watch with the family.

I can not speak highly enough of this movie, was funny, emotional, informative and eye opening, very well played by everyone in the movie.

Hilariously entertaining, I was howling with laughter throughout the whole movie... and I wasn't the only one by any means!

Having seen the first in the franchise, 'Bruce Almighty' starring the ham-faced, overacting, somewhat-talented Jim Carey, I wasn't too sure what to expect from a sequel... I mean, sequels are hardly ever as good as the first... and if that wasn't too spectacular... but it's great to see a movie that bucks the trend now and then...

Without the overbearing overacting from Jim, and leading with straight-man character Evan Baxter, this movie brings a LOT more contrast to the storyline... when mild mannered news anchor cum State Senator Evan Baxter suddenly starts acting wierd, doubting his own sanity, seeing some guy claiming to be God and telling him to build a giant Ark using only 'traditional' tools (Huge slabs of wood, chisels and mallets, and a guidebook "Ark Building for Dummies" LOL Icon)... well, things are really starting to look bad for the new Senator... And when his biggest supporter turns into his worst enemy... that's when Evan REALLY needs some divine intervention...

Take a bowlful of great puns, add a pinch of subtle, a handful of familiar faces, A hefty dollop of stunning, genuine acting talent... and that makes for one fine cookie of a movie...

Overall, this one WILL be joining my collection when it hits the shelves... it's just too good a movie to miss out on...
