Product reviews...
I recently had the opportunity to try out a neck and shoulder massage here, because I was getting some seriously bad headaches from neck tension. I store all my stress in my neck and upper shoulders, and if I don't get a good neckrub it can easily knock me back for days, and no amount of panadol will touch it.
As I entered I was greeted by a smiling, helpful staff member, who took my details so they could keep track of my progress, and who then explained the process to me and asked if I had any concerns or questions, which I didn't. I was then escorted into a small sideroom which contained the massage bed, where I was instructed to remove my glasses, jacket and shirt, wrap the towel around me to keep warm, loosen my belt so that the massage therapist could get right into my lower back, and please lie face down on the bed. I admit I was a little surprised that a "neck and shoulders" massage would reach as low as my lower back, but hey, who was I to complain.
I was left to undress in private, which was appreciated, and a few moments later there was a quiet knock on the door. Just to test, I waited a few seconds before answering, and was very pleased to see that she waited for me to call out that I was ready, it wasn't a knock-and-enter, ready or not. I was then asked where the problem areas were, which I described briefly. Then with a quick squirt of almond oil on her hands, she dove in and started the long, muscle-loosening strokes, explaining that the reason they start at the lower back is because of the long muscles that run up each side of the spine to the neck, and how they can easily 'shift the tension'... so this at least reassured me as to why she needed to start so low down my spine.
After about 20 minutes of her ministrations, I was nearly drooling with endorphine-induced pain relief. I was so 'out of it' that, when it was time for her to leave so I could redress, I had to take care when I stood up, I was so 'drophed I was actually a bit light-headed. Thankfully, she warned me this was a possibility, so I was ready to take it easy. I redressed uneventfully, and popped out into the waiting area to sit and relax a bit, where I was offered a drink of water, and follow-up advice on recommended frequency of revisits, to keep my water intake up for at least the next 12 hours while my body adjusted to the lack of tension, etc.
Overall, I was quite impressed with the treatment, though at $40.00 per treatment, I don't think I will be able to afford to repeat the performance at the recommended frequency of once a month. However, the joyous relief was short-lived. About 2 hours after I left, after the endorphins had faded, and just as the post-muscle-stretch ache was wearing off, leaving only the blissful lack-of-tension glow, a maniac driver cut through a red light, causing me to hammer on the brakes and spin around to try and catch the licence plate number, and -ping- there went my neck, and welcome back screaming-hadache. -sigh- The only thing to be aware of is that this clinic is tucked away out of the main flow of foot traffic in the mall, and better signage would probably help improve their visibility greatly. If you walk through the mall, look out for the souvenir shop, and head down the little alley next to it.
