"Barnyard" is a lighthearted tale centering around Otis, a carefree party cow, who enjoys singing, dancing and playing tricks on humans.
Unlike his father Ben, the respected patriarch of the farm, and Miles, the wise old mule, Otis is unconcerned about keeping the animals' humanlike talents a secret. But when suddenly put in the position of responsibility, the 'udderly' irresponsible cow finds the courage to be a leader.

We watched this movie at the theatre when it first came out and then liked it so much we bought the DVD so we could watch it again and again. It is a really heart-warming tale about a farm where the animals can talk and walk on two legs, swim and act like humans. Though they have the good sense not to do these things in front of humans.
Ben is the leader of the animals and dreams that his son Otis will one day take his place but Otis is a carefree, irresponsible cow who is more focused on having fun. However Otis must learn to step up and take responsibility to help the other animals. Realising that once he has a taste of leadership he does actually like it after all.
A real nice storyline and one children enjoy as they have the imagination to believe that animals really can talk. It has it's sad moments too and some scary moments with the wolves but not too scary that it would put the children off. It is also has some funny moments as Otis and his pals act like naughty teenagers.
The one thing that has always puzzled me about the movie is why the male cows have udders obviously in reality this is not possible but that goes over the younger children's heads. Overall a great family movie but I would recommend that children watch it with an adult for the sad moment towards the end of the movie.
Although we didn't pay to see this, i would seriously look at getting it on DVD to watch again. My 5 year old sat though the movie with no issues until it came to the ads.
The story is a good one and i found myself watching alot of the movie rather than doing what i was meant to be doing. There were parts of the movie that had her trying to climb down behind the seat in fear but she knows shes in no danger of "wolfs" because they aren't where we live.
She also had moments of laughter to the point at one stage i wondered if i should have her on a wet mat. This made me smile. I would definitely watch this again but perhaps next time put down the computer, cuddle up with the kids and have some popcorn.
Old McDonald eat ya heart out. This is a farm like no other with animals that would fit well in a Gary larsen cartoon. Cows that walk and donkeys that sing, gophers that can pimp your surfboard or sell you a cell. A great movie for kids. It has humour and lessons to learn especially if you have or are a teenager. Older or younger and its all about the fun of a good cartoon with some wierd and wacky characters. My favourite scene: "Thats called boy tipping" You will have to see the movie to get the reference but when you do you might find yourself laughing like mad. Stop eating the popcorn when the car gets stolen. Full of laughs and great viewing with the whole family snuggled up on the couch.

Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, sucked into and spat back through time. Way back. Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world - a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost.
