Just when you thought there were no more surprises, no more ways to see our planet in action... along comes one of the most stunning documentary series in the last half-century.

With full, detailed narratives by much-beloved and iconic documentarian, Sir David Attenborough, this is a overview of our home the likes of which you have not seen all in one place before. Spread over 2 DVDs, this series is a wake-up call for young and old.

With wild animals, underwater worlds, behind the scenes footage, explainations and summations... it's all here! My personal favourite was the explaination of how they use ground-breaking technology to get footage of animals in the wild without disturbing them, be it tiny cameras hidden away, or gyroscopically-balanced telephoto cameras slung under a helicopter in the middle of the African plains... it's all astounding stuff.

Overall, it really doesn't matter what you are in to, what aspects of life on Earth interest you, there is something for you in this series... and at about the same price as some cheesy big-budget blowhard movie, this 2-disc set is great value for money, with an educational and interest level to suit all viewers, or any age or socio-economic background. Simply stunning viewing.

After a startling encounter ... more...
