Get Thee to a Punnery is a stunning collection of puns and punny word games. One could simply read through and enjoy each section, or one could do as I did and share some of the pun games with friends - to great comic effect. The simplest one to do on a messageboard system is the 'Tom Swifties' which was simple and enjoyed by all who took part.
The games are as simple or as complex as one chooses them to be. ONe could read the examples and have your hand held and led gently through each and every exercise whilst all the time gaining in confidence in one's punning skills, or one could set forth and unleash a volley of puns on an unsuspecting public - the choice is yours; the result is the same. Laughter.
This neat and compact book easily fits into the back pocket of the budding punster to be read in quiet moment, though if I am anything to go by, the quiet moments don't remain quiet for long - for Richard Lederer is the punter's punster who has given us some truely clever, inventive and sometimes groan-worthy puns.
Get Thee to a Punnery is deserving of a place on any wordsmith's bookshelves, and admittedly, has already aquired a prime spot in my bookshelves. A fantastic addition at a fantastic price.
