I have a very sweet tooth and love lollies, especially berry-flavoured lollies. The Haribo Berries looked like they would be the perfect treat for me! They come in a 'Share Size' bag which is 140 grams with a clear window that shows you what the lollies look like - black and dark pink berry-shaped lollies. There is also a large picture of raspberries and blackberries on the front. There is not a lot of information on the packet - only the nutritional information and ingredients which keeps things simple!

I found it a little hard to open the packet and consequently ripped open the top of the packet. Because the lollies aren't individually wrapped and the packet is not resealable, I did have to put them in another container to stop them from falling out. Each jelly lolly is covered with very small sugary balls so that they look like raspberries or blackberries. It is a nice combo with the crunchy outer balls to the smooth and chewy jelly in the middle but these are very sweet and although they tasted a generic berry flavour, I would be hard-pressed to identify which berry flavour they were. There is a 'Be Treatwise' mention on the front, but to be honest, I don't think you could eat too many in one sitting without them getting sickly.

Obviously, the kids loved them and would have munched on them until they were gone. They loved the berry flavour and the look of them. Overall, a nice bag of sweet lollies.

My household definitely have a sweet tooth and when they found out we could try some new sweets the kids were waiting eagerly for the courier to arrive. When they did arrive there was no stopping the kids.

Opening the box we noticed the purple Haribo bag with the red and pink. It stood out well against other products. Before I could even look at the packet the kids had the bag open and the testing had begun. The bag was easy to open but it is one you tear which I'm not really a fan of as the sweets tend to fall out. Also, with the rush of little hands into the packet it did rip easily making it harder to contain the sweets. The sweets are called Berries. The bag size is 140g which seems to be a good share size, was plenty for us. The large berries on the front of the packet are very eye-catching and I love the clear panel where you can see the actual product.

Examining the packet I noticed that there is not a lot of information on the packaging. I quite like this. It's not overrun with stories and other information not needed. The back of the packet contains the nutrition information and the ingredients. It has the web address for Haribo and the best-before date. The front has in large lettering Haribo and Berries underneath a little smaller. It has a couple of small quotes and an image of berries.

Back to the taste test. The sweets are berry-looking with black and red sweets. They have small hard candies stuck onto a gummy centre. They were looking tasty. One kid loved the crunchy outer but the other didn't like these sweets at all. Personally, the outer was nice and crunchy, but the gummy inner was a little disappointing. I was expecting a berry flavour hit but I didn't really get anything. Also, I couldn't really taste a difference between the two colours which I thought would have been two different flavours.

Overall, this household thought these Haribo Berries didn't really stand up to our expectations. Haribo had the right idea with the hard and soft textures but we didn't feel as if there was enough flavour.

I fully admit I am not a regular consumer of sweets and have not tried Haribo before this. I found these a good starting point to get back into eating sweets!

I loved the idea of these "berry looking" sweets from the moment I saw them. They were just fascinating to look at and were constructed of two very different textures. The "crunchy coating" was quite sugary and reminscent of childhood sweets for both me and my husband. The looked amazing in a bowl and I would love to see them on a bed of icing.

The flavours were quite "sweet berry" but I would not have been able to name them without the label but that didn't actually matter. I am not sure they were trying to be anything like a real piece of fruit so fruit flavouring was fine with me. I liked the black ones much more than the milder red ones. I found the contrast between the chewy (gummy) centre and the crunchy coating quite odd and in the end the ones I liked the most were the ones where I sucked of the coating first (the centre was actually clear!). These were fun but one was genuinely enough for me. We used them on a car journey and they were a lovely pick me up for the trip. Taste was probably secondary to the texture and sweetness blast for me.

I don't think I will be rushing out to buy more of these as they were just a bit too artificial for me and I didn't like that quite a lot of the crunchy coating ended up at the bottom of the bag. I would use them however to decorate cakes/party items as they looked fantastic.

I have never been a big fan of berries, but over the years I have tried many berry-flavoured products that I was dubious of, and found them to be surprisingly pleasant on the whole. Alas, I have also come across plenty that failed to follow the same trend. These fell somewhat in between, neither more'ish nor 'one-taste abort' - which is possibly the rarest confection encounter I can imagine.

The flavours were, to a degree, berryish and while I have never tasted an elderberry before I did find the flavour to be somewhat of a novelty. By far the biggest appealing factor for me was the texture in my mouth. I loved the small crunchy bubble adorning the outside of the soft, jelly bonbon in the middle. It took me right back to my childhood treat of those liquorice balls covered in 100s-&-1000s. The flavour, naturally, was totally different but the mouth-feel is remarkably similar.

Overall, while I can't say I would go out of my way to buy these for myself again, they would be something I would consider giving to a berry-loving friend as a casual gift, especially at this price. Finding a bag of lollies that have something 'different' going on is difficult in the under-$4 bracket. If these were on special, and I was going to visit someone or ask a favour, and I knew they were partial to berries, I would even buy a few extra bags to share around. I was a bit put-off by the wildly unequal ratio of red to black lollies though - a bit of adjustment on the packing line to even the balance a bit might be a wise investment in customer satisfaction. NOTE: I am aware that these are made and packed in Germany, so the local importer has no control over this aspect.)

Not going to lie, our household is full of people that have very sweet teeth, we are always on the lookout for more delicious, sweet treats. I am especially keen on gummies, and I share this with my daughter, we have tried the majority of the Haribo range, so when I saw these Haribo Berries I knew we needed to taste them, this product is made in Germany.

The packaging is eye-catching and would be easy to see on a store shelf, the contrast between the black with the pink and green is visually appealing, and the image of the berries leaves no doubt what flavour the product is. At a package size of 140g this is ideal for sharing with the family or friends.

When I opened the packaging and took a red berry out for each of is, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the lollies had been crafted to replicate an actual berry - they had little balls stuck to the top for the visual effect, and I personally thought this was a fascinating and clever concept.
We decided to each try a black one first, I took a bite and the sweetness teamed with the texture of the gummy inside, and the outside texture of the little balls was well balanced. The inside is white almost clear, and I could not distinguish what the flavour was, but it was still nice.

Next was the red candy, this one tasted a bit sweeter in my opinion, and both my daughter and I agreed that the red one was our preferred out of the two. Again, the inside was the white almost clear colour, and the difference in textures worked well. The ingredients say that the flavours used include elderberry extract, blackcurrant and grape to name a few. My daughter made a point and said that after each gummy she would find a random ball from the outside of the candy stuck in her teeth, but this could just be a her thing.

Overall, we are quite impressed and thoroughly enjoyed trying this product and will probably look to purchase more in the not-too-distant future, the cost is a reasonable price to pay.

The Haribo brand is well-known and has a massive selection of sweets so I was naturally excited to give them a try and so were my children. The Haribo Berries come in an appealing packet that has berries pictured to the side of a see-through front that allows you to see the red and black berry gummy lollies.
I opened up the packet and tried one of each of the red and black candies which were nice and sweet with a fruity flavor but I was most pleased with the consistency of the crunchy outer balls and the chewy inner gummy lolly. I couldn't discern much difference in taste between the two but that wasn't a problem as I liked the flavor regardless.

My children aged ten, twelve, and fourteen each took one of each berry lolly and tried them with pleased expressions and were wanting more which I reluctantly gave in to giving them one more each of whatever color they choose, and to my surprise, they each took the red one saying it tasted the nicest. Having not so much of a sweet tooth nowadays it means the packet would last longer as I could tell that if I was craving sweet lollies this bag wouldn't stand a chance and would be fast disappearing.

I highly recommend these to anyone who has a sweet tooth or loves lollies that have a nice fruity flavor. If you have kids these will probably be devoured pretty fast so I would keep them well hidden. They make for an excellent snack just to have when trying to satisfy that sweet sugary craving. I will look at getting these again for sure whether it be later on if I slowly get through the bag myself or very soon if my children have their way or happen to find them.

The kids and I all have a sweet tooth, so always keen to try something new and I really enjoy a good fruity flavour. The packaging suits the contents and I like that we can see what is inside, though it was obvious right from the start that there were more of the red lollies than black, so no chance of finishing the packet by alternating colours. The ingredients also lists a few flavours, so I was interested in seeing how the lollies would taste and if I could discern any real differences between the two colours. Getting one out, it reminded me of the liquorice coated in hundreds and thousands.

Trying one, I enjoyed being able to scrape the bits on the outside off, I liked the texture of them but wasn't too keen when I took a bite of the whole lolly. The inside was nice and gummy, I liked the texture of it and thought it had a good enough flavour, though I couldn't tell a big difference between either colour and eventually found that I really couldn't eat too many. My twelve and fourteen year olds had one of each flavour and ended up spitting them out, saying that both the flavour and the texture was disgusting - so not a win there. My fifteen year old had a couple and decided that they really liked it, said that they really liked the texture of it and happily took the rest of the packet to finish them off.

In the end, this was only a hit with one out of the four of us, I won't be buying this in the future but my fifteen year old reckons that they will.

When I received my box of goodies from KR I had no tastebuds as was sick with the flu. So they just sat in the box taunting me. It was so bad that I even dreamt about the bag of lollies sitting on the table and I could not reach them. As soon as I knew my taste buds were back on track I grabbed the packet and ripped it open. My initial plan was to share with the family and then taken to work so that I could suck on them during the day - however none of that plan worked.

I had very good intentions of just taking one maybe two out of the bag and then putting it away. But one was never enough and next minute half the bag had gone in less than a minute. I do like the ratio of having one black and one red berry at the same time but my bag was quite off kilta and my bag was definitely heavier on the red then the black. I had probably 75% red so instead I would savour the black to the very end.

I really enjoyed the flavours of both of them. Usually I end up favouring the black - but with this variety they were both as good as each other. I found the red had a refreshing, uplifting taste and as hard as I tried I just could not suck on them, I just couldn't stop eating them.

Unfortunately, the packet did not last as long as I would of liked and I will definitely be buying these again. The family have not realised they are gone yet, but in their defence two are still sick with the flu and neither are really eating. It would of been nice if I could of sealed the bag but who am I kidding it didn't last long enough to be an issue.

The packet looked so enticing that I decided it would be good to share them with a few family members of various ages. The packet byline stated "Kids and grown-ups love it so..."; that was a signal to me that it would be good to have an assortment of people help me to evaluate the product. The oldest person there was in his late seventies and has false teeth; the youngest was six and he has a couple of milk teeth missing in front! And then there were the rest of us, an assortment who have two things in common. We are all related and we all like good quality lollies.

Because there were seven of us altogether, I wanted to make sure that everyone got to taste a few, so rather than serve them on their own I combined them with other items to make a proper dessert. There seemed to be more red berries than black, so I also needed to be sure that everyone got to taste both varieties. I was not sure what flavours they were meant to represent; the information on the packet said elderberry, blackcurrant, chokeberry (aronia), and grape. However, although we were not sure what the intended flavour might be, the two colours did taste quite different from each other so we settled for referring to them as blackberries and raspberries because that is what they looked like.

I used half of the berries to stir through plain ice-cream. Anything served with ice-cream is a winner in our family anyway, and it meant the lollies went further. On reflection, I think I would have been better to cut the berries in half as they were chilled by the ice-cream and then it took a little while for them to thaw enough to be chewed. Nobody complained, however, except for Mr 78 because the tiny sugar nonpareils (or hundreds and thousands) got trapped under his dentures and apparently they hurt. He said we should tell anyone with false teeth that they should remove them before eating the lollies. Luckily, they melted quickly so there was no harm done and his teeth stayed in!

I had kept a few of each colour back, and used them to decorate a trifle - there was fresh fruit inside as well, but it was nice to have the confectionery berries to make the top look festive. After the successful pairing with the ice-cream, this was a good way to make a few lollies go a long way. The black berries did bleed a little into the cream, but it did not matter; the resulting swirly pattern was quite attractive.

All of us enjoyed this product. We liked the flavours, the way the inner part melted in our mouths, the crunch of the outer coating which all but one of us enjoyed, and the festive appearance of the packet with its see-through window. I will buy this product again to use with a gathering of people. As long as I remind the denture wearers to bite carefully!
