We are huge wrap fans in this house but unfortunately that also makes us a little bit fussy in regards to what we like. Having three children, it means that requesting and trying the Super grains wraps was going to be, if nothing else, honest! Usually two of my children are a bit fussy with grains, especially when they can see them so it was going to be interesting to see if they would accept these.

I decided to use them first as an alternative to a bun for mini hot dogs, so cut them in half and heated the cocktail sausages before wrapping them in the super grains wrap and presenting them to the kids. Much to my surprise, none of them turned their noses up, which could have been due to the novelty of sausages in wraps, but also because it just did not bother them. While they were eating theirs, I tucked into one also.

My thoughts on the wraps are a little different to the children's, that I will share in a moment. I really enjoyed the grains and the thickness of the wraps and love that the grains used are chia and quinoa, making them really light. I did feel they had a bit of a low carb aftertaste, which is a funny thing to try and describe, it is kind of like some of the previous older style gluten free food items - they taste fine, just a little different. Personally I think over a couple of tries I would not even notice. My children were very honest and very positive about the wraps - commenting that the "nutty bits" were a really nice change and that they liked that they did not fall apart when they wrapped them tightly.

All in all these were a definite hit in our house, and although on the pricier side for six wraps, I would buy them again if using them for wraps for dinner, but maybe not for everyday snack eating. I am looking forward to buying and trying some different flavours of these too!

Low carb wraps are such a great idea for households like ours, where one person follows a mainly keto diet and the other is keeping an eye on the calories. This product makes it possible to do both, and all with absolutely no compromise in flavour or texture - neither of us could tell the difference between the low carb and Farrah's regular tortillas. And the price is comparable as well! Add to this the bonus that the Supergrains variety is high fibre too and you have the perfect ingredient for a huge range of culinary possibilities.

I started with a breakfast bowl with bacon, egg and mushrooms served in a slightly different way. I began by warming the tortilla base slightly and pushing it down into a bowl. To my delight, it formed fluted edges and showed no sign of losing its shape. Into my tortilla basket I piled the rest of the pre-cooked breakfast - lean bacon pieces, sliced mushrooms, and halved hard-boiled eggs. It was an interesting variation on a flat plated dish, and I am going to try that idea again with various other fillings. It even held its shape when I lifted it to see if I could eat it as finger food rather than going to look for a knife and fork.

Since my initial success, when I came to the conclusion that this is one of Farrah's best products ever, I have made vegetarian salad wraps with cream cheese and almonds, imitation hot dogs with sausage and onions rolled up inside a wrap with a liberal helping of mustard, pizzas with chicken and roast vegetables piled on top, and a perennial favourite from my student days - sliced roast beef and fresh green capsicum, liberally salted and stuffed into a tortilla to form a quick taco. There are many more ideas that I am going to try now I have discovered this wrap.

As always, Farrah's have included detailed product information on the reverse of the pack. This is most useful for people on restricted diets, either by choice or for health reasons, as it makes it easy to check for suitability. There is also a panel with the background to Farrah's beginnings. In fact, the entire reverse of the packaging looks more like a magazine page than anything else; useful reading material while you are waiting for a meal to cook! But the front of the package is much simpler, with bold fonts and only the most vital information showing. And finally, I am pleased that the product comes in a ziplock bag. Some products have to be decanted if you don't use the entire contents in one go, and that can be infuriating. We had our first two wraps a week before the rest, and the contents were just as fresh as when we had first opened the packet. The package recommended using any leftovers up within five days (or freezing them if they were not to be finished quickly) but ours were still absolutely fine after a week.

I enjoy eating wraps, such an easy meal to make and saves a little bit on the washing up. I have three kids who always turn their noses up at anything that I get that has visible grains in it, but I'm always encouraging them to try such foods time and time again. I, myself, am attempting to loose some weight and watching how many carbs I consume, so I was happy to see this as an option to a brand that I already know and enjoy. I must point out that I love that this comes in a zip lock packet, which means that I know that they are going to stay nice and fresh and last a good few days.

My first use of these, I was feeling a tad lazy, so I simply spread over some garlic margarine, marmite and some cheese, before rolling it up and popping it in the oven for a little while. It all held together well, as expected, and tasted great. I did manage to get the kids to try some but they weren't too interested in, so more for me. I used this to make a pizza, which held up really well, as even though I couldn't pick it up like a typical slice of pizza, I was able to roll it up without loosing any of the toppings. Overall this worked really well and tasted just fine, the kids might not like it but I think I will be picking some up in the future.
