Product reviews...
I am familiar with a number of RJs products. They seem to have so many these days. I have enjoyed some of the combinations but some are just a bit too out there for me. This one was not. I loved the tropical taste and I totally got the mango vibe. These were just lovely the sherbet was fizzy but not too fizzy. These were an absolutely perfect movie treat for us.
The texture was great, not too chewy on the outside and not too gooey on the inside. If you bit too hard to start with you can get a bit of the sherbet to ooze out but it didn't seem to spill. I would recommend for both adults and children as they weren't too intense.
The size was great for me, although I did see someone else in the family cut them in half but they really don't do sweet so that is understandable. I loved the clear packet so I could see the colour (bright but not unnatural) before I opened the packet. The packet was easy enough to open and I didn't need to reseal or save them in this case as the serving of 200g was great for 4 of us watching a Saturday night movie.
I would say these are a win and hopefully, they keep making them and don't phase them out too quickly. It is always a risk trying new confectionery and I admit to mostly being a creature of habit but I will incorporate these into our sweet treat options in future.
We love Rjs sweets and I love sherbet so when there was a tropical sherbet why not try. When opening the packet it smelt really tropical like mango and unlike mango. I had a couple of pieces and left on the bench for later, later came and all my tropical sherbet were gone. I found the 4 yr old with a smile on his face and he enjoyed my packet with his 3yr old sister, I wasnt impressed. It took me 2 weeks to find another packet to review as I live I a small town and they seemed to fly off the shelves says something about them right there.
Finally got a packet opened it up to be greeted by that yummy tropical smell so sat down to enjoy them. The serving size says 4 pieces per person but unfortunately that didn't happen hubby and I ate the whole packet I one sitting. The pieces taste really good like mango it's all I can think of, the sherbet really gave us a hit and reminded me of homemade sherbet which gave a nice sour taste. The outside of the sherbet balanced out the sweet perfectly.
The packet is good size to share and only $3 well $2.50 at the moment you can't go wrong. I would keep buying these the only downfall is there is wheat in them so not all the kids can enjoy, guess more from mum.
I love tropical flavour and sherbet fizz so I couldn't wait to try RJ's Fabulicious Tropical Sherbet Fizz's! They come in a bright orange pack with a clear window so you can see exactly what you are getting - a 3cm long tropical flavoured chew with a tube of sherbet fizz in the middle. As always, as soon as I opened the packet, there was a crowd of family members waiting to sample the goods. The pieces are a good size, although you could cut them in half if you wanted them to go further. To say there are delicious is an understatement! Every family member that tried them loved the taste and texture and were patiently waiting for seconds and thirds...
The tropical chew is lovely and chewy and you could taste the mango and passionfruit which I thought was a great combo. I thought it had the same texture as the raspberry and orange licorice that they use in their other lollies but was a bit chewier. The sherbet wasn't overly fizzy or sour, but together, the chew and sherbet complimented themselves to perfection.
I was really impressed by the number of chews you get in a packet (32 pieces) and the packet lasted as you only needed a few of them to be satisfied (the packet recommends 4 pieces per serve). As usual, RJ's have created another yummy treat that our family will enjoy.
After having these Fabulicious tropical sherbert fizz chews there isn't a bad thing I can say about them as they are absolutely delicious and for the mere price of $3 you get a packed 200g bag of these fantastic tasting fizzy chews you could say its all so fabulicious. Tropical is my favourite flavour for lollies as they are sweet and fruity and with the addition of the sherbert fizz, it takes it to a higher level of satisfaction with the blending of sweet and sour. These chews comprise of an outer chewy cylinder much to the likeness of liquorice consistency and a soft inner sherbert fizz centre.
I had high expectations for these lollies as RJs is a staple brand in our pantry and they have definitely succeeded yet again with these chews which now would be within my top 5 of sweets. As I stated before these come in a 200g bag which consists of a good amount of chews which is great as once my children got their hands on them there were many to share around and have many leftover too. The tropical flavour is bursting with Passionfruit and mango tones which are my two favourite fruits.
If you're a fan of sweet and sour lollies that pack a powerful fruity punch then you will love these and if your not a fan of such lollies then give these a try anyway as these are that good they may be the one sweet that could change your mind. I will definitely be getting these again and I know my children will be glad for that.
I've always loved sour things. Always. And while I've had some Fabulicious treats before, I usually prefer to go for the twin-pack longer ropes rather than the share packs, well, mainly because I'm not great at sharing. I'm much better at simply picking something that is just for me. So I'll definitely be looking for the twin pack format because this product is absolutely bursting with flavour. Yes, it is actually Fabulicious.
It's quite difficult to put it into words. It's simply delicious, and I can't stop eating them. Perhaps that goes into the downsides too. It's so moreish that portions go out the window. Even the missus that usually avoids the sweet stuff, loves this product.
If you love tropical and sour things, this is had to pass up, with a tantalizing mix of passionfruit and mango, and a tangy kick of sherbet in the middle. The texture of the outer chew is more solid than RJ's usual licorice texture, and it actually makes you have to chew each piece properly, unleashing burst after burst of flavour. In reality, it's the sherbet that makes this product so delicious. The chewy outer shell is enjoyable, but has a much more restrained flavour, compared to the absolutely overflowing flavour of the sherbet.
I've eaten the whole pack in a couple of days, and begrudgingly shared about 4 pieces (1 serving). that means I've eaten 7 servings of this confectionery in the last 36 hours or so...definitely moreish. Perhaps not the best for my waistline. It is definitely worth the try, but unless you have to share with lots of people, I'd recommend finding a smaller twin pack, or you're going to end up eating the whole thing by yourself!
I reluctantly agreed to share these treats with some family members; they have enjoyed other RJ's products so were keen to try the newest variety. However, I deliberately did not tell them what they were going to be tasting until they had first eaten two each; I was interested to see if they could identify the different flavours. All four of them immediately picked mango, followed almost straight away by passionfruit. But it was not until we split one down the middle and sampled the sherbet filling on its own that we realised that it was quite sour, possibly lemon. Clearly this helped to tone down the sweetness of the tropical outer section.
Mr 11 had previously tasted two other products in the same range: Sour Twisters - Soda; and Fruity Twisters, so he was first in line to try this one. He was highly impressed by the flavour, and declared that this was his favourite RJ's product yet. His sister decided to use this against him; when he was supposed to be practising his trumpet, she sneaked up and tempted him with a lolly. (The lolly won!) He said he liked this variety best because the flavours were tangy and had plenty of flavour. He did mention that he thought the sherbet could have a little more fizz, but that was a technicality as far as he was concerned.
Miss 9 said she agreed 100% with her brother, and even tried to sneak another one when she thought nobody was looking. She loves cooking and said she could imagine them on top of the cream cheese icing on a banana cake. She also thought they were the right colour for a tree trunk and would use them to make a tree trunk pattern on top of a cheesecake. They would look quite effective with the addition of small pieces of green confectionery to form "branches".
Both adults thought the flavours were quite authentic. The appearance of the lollies matched the flavour, and apart from being visually attractive they were just the right size for a mouthful. The sour citrus flavour coupled with the sweet passionfruit and mango was a perfect combination. Some multi-flavoured sweets do not quite work as the flavours clash or the colours are all wrong. They would both buy this product for a family treat; high praise indeed as they are normally quite fussy about the kind of special occasion items they get for the children.
A serving is four pieces - I found two were enough for me as they are quite rich, but the children wanted their four! They loved the catch phrase printed on the back of the packet ("Get a taste for the tingle with fizzy sherbet wrapped in a wonderful tropical chew") which pretty well sums up the experience. I did find the information on the packet very hard to read, and that would be a drawback for someone with allergies who needs to check the contents list. I asked Mr 11 to read it to me as the pale orange on white was too much of a challenge, and right at the end there was a reference to wheat, milk and soy which could be an issue for some people. A black font on the white background would have been more useful; the black bar code is beautifully clear. The front packet design is bright and funky and most attractive, but the ingredients list on the back needs to be more accessible.
Apart from the pack, however, the contents more than met our expectations and I am sure it will not be too long before we are buying this product again. There are roughly 30 pieces in the packet, more than enough for five of us with a few left over for tomorrow.
