I just washed my hair using the Ahhh...It's All Good lavender love and rosemary (fine & oily hair) shampoo bar and thought I had better write my review now while the scent is still lingering and the experience fresh. We received the lavender and rosemary shampoo bar at the same time we received the manuka honey and almond shampoo bar. I let my children smell both of them and they much preferred the subtle scent of the manuka honey and almond so I kept the lavender and rosemary to try myself.

Upon opening the box the lavendar and rosemary scent is rather strong - and lavender can be a love it or hate it smell. I love the smell and appreciate that when a product claims to be a particular smell then they follow through with that. It is a very natural lavender smell and created with genuine lavender essential oil. The box is small and recyclable and the product is made in New Zealand.

The bar itself is round and has texture to it so is easy to hold when in the shower with wet hands. It only took three or four rubs around the scalp to get my hair into a nice lather. Very easy to use and rinse out. I have a block dock so it was simply to place in that and carry on. I am surprised that this little shampoo bar will complete 50-70 washes - amazing for the economical price of $12.99. My hair dried beautifully and shiny, I love that the scent remains - it will be nice to fall asleep with a lavender scent on the pillow.

Overall, we are a family that tries to do our best to reduce plastic and our footprint on our earth. This is one more step in the right direction without buying any plastic shampoo. I'd love it if there was a way to easily travel with the shampoo bars but yet to find the perfect container for the travel bag. Maybe there is an opportunity for Ahhh...to create products that go alongside their amazing shampoo bars.

For quite some time now I have been looking at the various options available when purchasing shampoo. The concept of shampoo bars has always appealed to me, however I will admit I was very skeptical about how efficient they would be, especially as the cost is higher than our typical bottle of shampoo. While I browsed the KIWIreviews site I noticed that Ahhh... had some shampoo bars available for request. There were 3 different scents available for various types of hair, the scents included Grapefruit & Chamomile, Manuka Honey & Almond, and of course the Lavender & Rosemary. I was practically jumping for joy when I saw I had been lucky enough to try one.

Firstly when I received the product I paid close attention to the packaging, the shampoo bar is enclosed in a cardboard box which I found to be quite eye-catching. The brand logo stands out well and is well positioned, the wording 'Lavender Love' is the first thing my eyes flicked to, and the accompanying picture of black outlines of lavender, on a lavender background, with hearts is stunning.
This product is NZ made, paraben free, and SLS and SLES free, and specifically designed for fine and oily hair - perfect for me. The box claims that this product should last between 50 - 70 washes, I was doubtful but keen to try. This product is made of natural ingredients, so no nasty chemicals, ideal especially with my young children.

When it came time to use the bar, I gently removed the bar from the box and was surprised by it's appearance. The bar is a large circular shape with bumps, and is appropriately lavender coloured. The fragrance was divine and I hoped that my hair would smell just as nice. I wet my hair and the started rubbing the bar over my hair, this felt really weird to do as I usually only use liquid. I was pleasantly amazed by how much the product managed to lather up, and the smell was great. After washing the shampoo from my hair, I was thrilled that my hair felt clean, and there was no sign of greasiness, and according to the mirror no residual leftover in my scalp.

After my wonderful results, I got my daughter to try this on her hair, usually her fine hair once it is dried will feel like straw, however since using this for several days we have found her hair feels like it is more hydrated and softer. After using for a week I am shocked to see that the bar is virtually the same size as the day I took it out of the box.

Overall I am highly confident that from now on our family has converted to buying shampoo bars, this seems to be more cost effective, better for the family with no nasties in it, cruelty free and better for the environment. I highly recommend this product, and look forward to trying more products from Ahhh... in the not too distant future.

I've wanted to try shampoo bars for a long time now to see if it would be better for my gross oily hair that I have so many problems maintaining. When it arrived I saw the box and was taken back by how cute it looked with the violet colour contrasted by the darker indigo and plum drawing of a sprig of lavender. The box was easy enough to open and as soon as I did the lovely sweet aroma wafted out and greeted me. It smelt so good I had to stop myself from taking a bite of the bar.

The colour of the bar itself was a pleasing periwinkle which is great but I thought it would be lavender coloured like the scent. When I applied it I found that it foamed itself up fairly quick and the texture was course which sort of hurt to apply. After washing it out my hair felt dry and squeaky which is not really the texture I would want. Even after applying the conditioner it felt the same so I'm not too jazzed about this product but maybe it works on other hair types and not mine. To fix the problem I had to add extra conditioner so this product just isn't for me it seems.

Overall I wouldn't purchase this as it doesn't seem to work for me and is a little on the steep price being $12.99 per bar but if it does smell amazing and after trying it out on the kid's hair they really liked it.
and I would still recommend getting this despite it not working for me.

Receiving my KR box I was met with the sweetest smell, that I quickly realised was the Lavender Love and Rosemary Shampoo Bar. It smelt absolutely divine. So sweet. So yummy. I could not wait to try - my first thought was I hope my hair smells like this because I am in love with that smell.

I have never experienced Shampoo Bars before and to be honest I found the concept quite daunting as to how to use them. But the instructions seemed simple enough 'rub all over wet hair a few times to lather it up' rather easy really. So wetting my hair entirely I grabbed the bar which is quite coarse and gave a really good rub. I was shocked at how it lathered up so quickly and my hair was foaming in white shampoo. I really was not expecting it to work so well. I continued to massage into the scalp and rinsed out. Was very quick and painless I am not sure why I was so worried. I left the shampoo on the bench too dry out and continued to condition.

Later that day I got my youngest to wash her hair and she had the same concerns as me but when I explained the procedure she loved it and telling me how simple it is. When my eldest had her shower I completely forgot to tell her how to use it and she thought it was a body wash and actually washed her body in it, until her sister yelled at her to stop and explained it was a shampoo. I came in worried it would effect her skin but luckily she was fine.

I love when someone walks past me in town and you get that clean shampoo smell - I did assume this would be the same way considering how powerful the aroma is but alas it did not happen and unless you stuck your hair by your nose you do not get that strong scent.

We have been using this shampoo bar now for the past ten days. The girls and I every other day and my husband every day and I am impressed with how much is left. I was worried that it would disappear straight away as I feel like I use quite a bit rubbing away, as really there is no indication of how much is too much but it still looks pretty much brand new with maybe a 1/5 of it gone. I feel like my hair has more of a shine to it and I like the way it feels.

This would be ideal to take away on holidays as it really does not take up much space at all. It also has natural ingredients and I feel it is way more environmentally friendly as you are not using plastic bottles with it - but the price does scare me some. I would prefer to spend around the $10 mark and find $13 rather a lot and will be keeping an eye out to see how long it lasts for. I am impressed with this product though and will keep an eye out for specials.

It is no surprise to those that know me that I have wanted to try shampoo bars for a while... I am a "make a small change to help the planet" kind of person, and totally a hippie, I guess!! This isn't a new thing, I have been like this for 15 plus years, so the trying shampoo (and conditioner) bars with natural ingredients and cardboard/ paper recyclable boxes instead of constantly buying it in plastic bottles was not really a new idea, but with so many lovely sounding ones on the market, I was not really sure which to try. Seeing the Ahhh... ones come up for review, I requested them and was lucky enough to receive a shampoo (and a conditioner - thank goodness!).

I received the lavender and lemongrass version, which is stated to be suitable for all hair types. As I adore the smell of lavender, I was pleased that it was this one! You can smell the fragrance - like with the conditioner bar, without even opening the box, but it is in no way overpowering or too much. My hubby is very sensitive to strong scents, and has not commented on the bar at all. The scent does become stronger once it is wet but, it is currently sitting in my bathroom, and you can no longer smell it, so definitely not overpowering. The packaging is the first thing to catch my eye of course - and it is not only pretty and appealing (each scent/ hair type is a different colour), but a huge plus is that it is plastic free, recyclable and better for our planet.

The bar has the instructions on the box, but it is like any shampoo, wet hair, apply.... rinse off and repeat if you desire. My first thought when using this bar was, will it actually get my hair clean and sud up (if you get what I mean!) well. I was not disappointed on either count - you can actually see little granule type bits in the bar which I assume are to help clean, and it does really well, with just the right amount of suds, and a lovely soft clean feel to my hair. You don't seem to use it a lot of it, so it should last for the 50-70 uses (washes) it states, but having not had it very long, I certainly have not had the chance to use it that many times yet. I usually only wash my hair every 4-5 days, so if you were using more often, or had a lot of hair (mine is fine and not heaps to it) it may not last as long?

A few pluses I could think of for this bar are no more squeezing out of it all by children (yep, true story), leaving the bottle open so it dilutes and fills with water, using it like body wash.... it is easy to carry with you to campsites/ holiday spots/ beach visits /up a mountain /to the gym/pool, and no cumbersome bottles to pack or lids to pop open.

I really liked how it made my hair feel - especially when combining with the matching conditioner bar. My hair felt lovely and soft and smelled really lovely!!. I especially liked that my hair felt fresh and light for days on end. I am super excited to see how long this bar lasts and will definitely try some of the other products in the Ahhh... range to see if they are just as nice!.

FYI - the pic is of my sudsy self using the bar - to give you an idea. I probably could have shampooed it up more, but didn't see the point!
