What's Up product reviews

Collect sets of different birds before your opponents complete theirs in a game that's simple to learn, fast playing and very portable.

What's Up is a very light memory-based strategy game that can be taken anywhere, as it fits in a pocket, be explained in under a minute, has high replay value, and is perfect for casual players, but deep enough for experienced ones.

What's Up is a fast card-flipping game in which you race to collect sets of birds first. The first player to collect 2-4 sets wins, with the number being dependent on the number of players. Watch what others do, remember what was flipped where, and play the odds when deciding to flip the birds!

2-4 players Ages 8+ 20 minute play time

What's Up! is a fun game, perfect for two to four players, just remember to double check how many set you need to collect as in a two player game you need four sets, three players = three sets and four players = only two sets. The cards are double sided and different enough that none of us have remembered what bird is opposite which bird which keeps the game interesting. The basic play is that all the cards are laid out, you then flip one over, here is where paying attention comes in handy as sometimes the card they flip over means you can flip it over for the side that you need. It is also handy to make sure you keep an eye on how many sets of which colours have been made because after a few you won't be able to complete your set!

My eleven, nine and seven year olds all enjoy this game, it is one that doesn't take a huge amount of time, it is small which means it isn't heavy and that limits the fights over who has to carry it and it is very quick to learn, which my eldest likes because it means he can get other kids to join in and play with us. The pictures are lovely, the birds are all pretty much identical, just different facial expressions ranging from sad, to angry and happy. The colours on the cards are nice and bold and due to their size, easy for everyone to see and make their sets. The only confusing aspect to this is that the box comes looking like it can fit two decks of cards (with how it is set up inside the box, so the box could have been half the size it is) This is a fun little game, great for the family.
