I love chewing on a good meaty bone. It takes me back to the days of my cavemen ancestors. I don't tend to order ribs in a resturant as I am scared of making a big mess and looking greedy. I have not tried making them myself but have got some from the supermarket a few times. When I was given Beak and Sons Chinese BBQ pork ribs I was sure they would be a hit with my whole family.

They came in a box and inside the box was the vacuum sealed ribs and sauce. To minimise mess I cut along the longest side of the packet and squeezed it out onto the roasting dish trying to get as much of the sauce out as possible. The meat is already cooked so requires only 10 minutes under the grill according to the instructions. Unfortunately this was when we discovers that our grill wasn't working so I can't confirm that.

The smell from the oven was mouthwatering. We had 14 ribs in our packet which meant the kids got three ribs each while mum and dad got four. This was a good sized serving. We all enjoyed the taste of the pork and sauce. The meat was so tender that it was falling off the bone. It was so popular that we will be buying it again. I am also keen to try some of the other products especially if that are as quick and easy to prepare as this.

One bit of advice that I will remember for next time however is to soak the pan straight after serving as it was a mission to clean the next morning.

My family and I love ribs they are something we often order when we are eating out at a restaurant. We were lucky enough to have previously tried the Hickory ribs which were truly divine so we were delighted when the opportunity came up for us to also review the Chinese Pork Ribs as there was no doubt in any of our minds that we weren't going to love these.

First of all I absolutely love the packaging which the ribs come in, the outer consists of a very stylish cardboard box which shows every exact detail which you need to know in regards to the ribs, opening up the packaging I found that the ribs themselves are actually wrapped in a foil package which is a very smart idea for helping to keep the ribs super fresh until you are ready to cook them up, no wonder the expiry date was very reasonable! The foil package had a very detailed label on it explaining how to cook and prepare the ribs and I love how easy this was to get open. The ribs were easy to transfer from the foil pack on to an oven tray and I was most impressed by the amount of sauce that was within, it was very plentiful and there was more than enough to cover the ribs generously so that they would pack a huge flavor hit.

Cooking of the ribs couldn't have been easier, I cut the rack of ribs into single pieces (as recommended) and brushed the remaining sauce over each one and then popped them into a preheated oven to come, within 10 minutes they were piping hot and ready to enjoy, (the ribs are precooked hence the quick cooking time). My family and I enjoyed the ribs with some garlic bread rolls and a salad which made the perfect meal. The Chinese soy flavoring was amazingly nice and sweet but with just the right amount of spice, we didn't think that we could do better than the Hickory variety but I think these ones maybe just slightly better. The meat is so tender it falls off the bone, and unlike many ribs, yes even the restaurant ones the meat is plentiful and so tasty, my partner was most impressed.

Without a doubt I will be buying these again they really are that good, if you are a fan of ribs you really must try them, well worth the price and minimal effort involved yum, yum.

We were in Dunedin and had asked an elderly uncle around for a meal - a little concerned as he has false teeth and we had planned to try these ribs, but decided if necessary he could cut the meat off the bone first. But we need not have worried. The meat is so tender it literally peels itself away from the bone, and the look on his face as he ate the first ribs he has enjoyed for years was worth it - he did not need to risk his dentures falling out when he bit into them.

We had been told that it is essential to have swedes when you are in this part of the world, so our meal consisted of baked potatoes, mashed swedes, some mixed vegetables, and of course the ribs. The swedes and potato were perfect with the ribs as there was so much gravy in the pack it was enough to flavour them too. It is a long time since we have eaten such a delicious meal! It was amazing that there was so little waste; there was a generous proportion of meat to bone and more than enough for three of us. In fact, had we not been slightly greedy, there would have been plenty for four people.

The preparation was minimal if slightly messy, but I had anticipated that and made sure I opened the inner pack over the sink! The gravy had to be scraped down on to the meat, but I was determined to get every last drop. It was too good to leave behind in the packet. It took ten minutes to warm up; I cut the rack into individual ribs first and turned them once after six minutes, ensuring that the gravy was coating them well. There were no issues with the meat although one of the baked potatoes did explode in the oven, coating everything with bits of potato. That was quite dramatic!

Although the ribs are quite costly, they are delicious and much cheaper than they would be in a restaurant. The gravy sets them off to perfection, and they are something I would consider keeping in for a special meal. Being vacuum sealed, they will keep for several weeks in a fridge so that makes them ideal for short-term planning. I often have unexpected visitors or am invited to friends' places and need to take a contribution for a meal, so this would be something that would be fun to share - especially at a barbeque where a few sticky fingers don't matter.

I've never really been a big "ribs" man. I know so many people that will pick ribs every time they see it on a menu, but I personally was never brought up on them, so any time I went out to a restaurant, I'd be more inclined to go for the safe option of Steak. But you can't always live life safely; sometimes you have to be exciting and try something different.

First off, I love the packaging. It's clean, it has lots of funky fonts, it has beautiful photos of the product, and it has all of the meat enclosed in a foil bag that won't make a mess in the shopping bag like other trays of meat do. Only a little thing to gripe about; all of the heating instructions, ingredients, and nutritional information are jammed in tiny writing on one of the sides (it's always the last side you check as well).

But let's move past the outer packaging. I like that the product comes in a foil package, as it means it keeps fresh in the fridge for far longer. you have a couple of months to eat the product, rather than a couple of days. The sauce and meat all come together in the same pack, so you end up making a bit of a mess pulling out the meat, and then squeezing out the remaining glaze like an over-sized toothpaste. The bowed shape of the ribs would make heating evenly difficult on the BBQ or under the oven grill, but as the product is already cooked, all we are doing is reheating, so that's fine.

While the sauce is rather thick when first pushed out of the foil bag, it quickly thins out as it heats up. A quick 10 minutes later, and the ribs are heated all the way through and they are ready to eat. As I wanted the full ribs effect, I let it cool slightly so the glaze would thicken and I could add an extra few layers of flavour to the product. I cut the ribs prior to reheating, so I just quickly stacked them on a plate and tried to see how many I could fit into my stomach in one sitting.

The meat was incredibly tender. No need to bite or use any utensils, the meat fell right off the bone cleanly and had a gorgeous Chinese soy flavour. Try as I might I could not finish them all in one sitting and I left four to eat the next day. Even without reheating them the next day, they were still delicious. Eaten cold, the meat did stick slightly to the bone but had a good meaty fibrous texture, and the thick sauce stuck on well.

A delightful first go at ribs and a good amount of meat despite the large size of the rib bones (some bones had the thickness of my thumb, and longer than my fingers). Definitely impressed with the product, the longevity of its shelf-life, and its 10 minute heating time (Google says ribs usually take 1.5 to 3 hours to cook) make this a high-quality product.

I don't tend to venture out of my comfort zone often, when it comes to the meat I eat, but I do enjoy pork ribs now and then and I especially enjoy a good Chinese hoisin sauce.

The packaging is nice and attractive and let's you know that not only will it take a relatively short time to finish cooking it but that you can also have it ready to eat after just ten minutes of cooking. The information the box provides is on one of the slim sides but covers almost everything that you'd want to know. What it doesn't provide lies in the heating instructions which gives you all the basic information to get this ready to eat except for the temperature at which to heat up your oven at, which is necessary information if you don't often use the grill function. I ended up taking a guess and popped them in the oven at 180 degrees.

I chopped the ribs up, as suggested, popped them in an oven proof dish, poured the remaining sauce on top and then popped it in the oven. I cooked them for ten minutes but then felt that they didn't look quite right nor hot enough so I gave them another ten minutes, just to ensure that they cooked well. Getting them out and in front of the kids, all three said that it smelled nice and looked tasty and were all set to have their first taste of pork ribs. My youngest managed to eat two and my other two kids and myself managed four pieces each, so a good portion of food to eat.

In the end, I found it had a pleasant taste overall and the kids also enjoyed it and are hoping for more.
