Summer can sometimes be a bit too warm for a hot drink. So why not keep some peach iced tea pods on hand? Perfect for when family and friends pop over during the warmer months.
Product reviews...
I was a little disappointed to win a new coffee machine, and out of 10 flavours of pods, none of them were cold drinks (so I could only utilise half of the functions?). Luckily, my flatmate bought this flavour when we had an older Nescafe pod machine (the Jovia?). Especially coming into the summer months, having some cold options really would have been a great marketing idea.
But getting that little rant out of the way, let's get on to this beverage. The tea itself smells amazing. The scent hits you as soon as it comes out of the machine, even though it's a cold drink. Interestingly, even though it's all in one pod, it still comes with a bit of froth (one pod also means you get 16 servings from one box instead of 8!). Unfortunately the flatmate threw out the box that the pods came in, so I can't comment on the ingredients or nutrional content, but the drink itself has an intense flavour that more than matches the aroma. The drink is quite dark in colour, which was surprising from the small size of the pod, but means it looks great when you throw in some ice cubes.
Overall, a great summer drink, I just wish Nescafe would hurry up and release more cold tea flavours for us non-milk drinkers. This would be a great alternative when hosting a BBQ for those that are driving. A great full flavoured non-alcoholic beverage that I can make with a coffee machine at the push of a button.
I was lucky enough to be invited along to the KIWIreviews Nescafe Dolce Gusto meeting and upon arrival I was pleased to see early on that there was a variety of hot chocolate drinks as well as the Nestea Peach tea for me to try out, as I do not drink coffee. I quite often enjoy iced tea, and when it comes to flavours peach is right up there at the top of my list so I couldn't wait to try this!
The drink was super simple to make up as per the instructions on the packaging, and with the easy to use Eclipse. After popping my pod into the coffee machine I simply selected the desired strength I wanted to use for this drink, I went with 7 as stated on the packet, and selected cold water and off the machine went as it prepared my delicious iced drink. The smell of the peach was strong and I could smell the aroma wafting around the room it was fruity and smelt delightful. In no time at all the drink was ready, there was a layer of froth on the top of it which I must admit I found rather odd but after leaving the drink to sit for several minutes this soon lessened. For me this drink was perfect and just right, though I feel others perhaps may find it a bit on the sweet side, luckily for these people the versatility of the Eclipse makes it easy to control the sweetness of your drink just by adapting your water level.
Since having this machine I have had many guests around all of whom have tried and loved the peach tea, saying that it tastes better than that you would get out of a bottle in a supermarket, I have to agree. I have found that this is best served made with really cold water and over ice, my partner will often make himself a glass up when he gets home from work. This stuff really is incredible and not only is it great as a prepared drink but it also makes some pretty good ice blocks i've found, perfect on a summer's day. It also goes amazing made up as a fancy drink by adding some fresh fruits to your glass upon serving such as strawberries and melon, my Nana loved this!
There is absolutely no doubting whether I will be buying more of this, as I most DEFINITELY will? I planned to do so today but unfortunately my local supermarket didn't have these. With 16 pods per box these are real value for money being less that 63 cents a cup, you couldn't buy a yummy iced tea this cheap anywhere else!
When I was invited to a KIWIreviews Dolce Gusto product meeting I thought that there wouldn't be much for a non-coffee drinker like me. This is when I was introduced to the Nestea Peach. It is actually designed to be a cold drink. This goes to show the versatility of the machine.
I first made the drink with 7 bars of cold water as per instructions. I could smell the peach flavour and others around me commented on it too. It had a layer of foam on top which clung to the cup after the drink was finished. Personally I found the drink a little too sweet for me. I have now taken to adding ice on a hot day or setting the machine to XL, both of which give me a slightly weaker drink which I enjoy.
I have also rebelled and on more than one occasion had it as a hot drink. I find this very enjoyable and a nice treat on a cooler evening. I thought my girls (6.5 and 8 years old) would enjoy this drink because of its sweetness. My youngest drank it and liked it but her sister wasn't keen. At least I know that there will be pods available when I want it.
I have already bought another box of Nestea after finishing the pods I was given for review. It is not an everyday drink due to the high sugar content but a nice treat. Since it only takes one pod to make a cup a box will make 16 cups. This works out at less than 63 cents a cup, significantly cheaper than buying a bottle of iced tea in the shop or cafe.
