Using lightly sparkling Waiuku spring water, natural extracts, and a tiny splash of juice, each bottle has less than 10 calories.
The holy grail in beverages has been low-calories, 100%-natural, and a punchy flavour with no weird aftertastes. We have finally achieved this almighty combination with Green & Co. flavoured waters. There is no added cane sugar, instead we use a splash of monkfruit juice. Monkfruit is a super-sweet melon, originally cultivated by Buddhist monks 800 years ago.
Green & Co. spring waters come in three flavours:
• Cucumber, Mint & Lime
• Watermelon, Jasmine & Mint
• Raspberry, Hibiscus & Lime
Each bottle has a different calorie count because they are all-natural and not engineered - they are like you've made them at home, chopping cucumber and fresh mint and lime juice.
• 0% Artificial
• BPA-free bottle
• No added cane sugar
• < 10cal per bottle
Product reviews...
I was excited to try this being a healthy alternative to juice or plain water, especially having mint in it. It has great fizz and after being open a day or so still had that magic noise on opening the cap. The label is not overly exciting, however this makes it easy to read and identify what it is and whats in it. The major thing that annoys me about the label is that the word cucumber is written over two lines instead of one. It says on the bottle ".....with real fruit extracts, botanicals....." but doesnt actually mention the sediment (floaties) in there. 1% of their revenue goes towards places helping protect the environment which is pretty cool.
It has an interesting smell and I'm not sure how to describe it. On drinking this, you feel the bubbles tingle on your tongue and get a weird garden mint taste, fake lime and what tastes like whole juice cucumbers. I must admit though my first attempt at this was while it was at room temperature and the second was cold from the fridge, which slightly improved the taste and pleasurably of it.
I would like to try this with gin or vodka to see if its any better because it would make a great change from regular mixers.
I like sparkling water to celebrate on those occasions when I am the driver and cannot indulge in other options, or when we have company over I always have some on offer.
I was delighted to receive Green & Co Cucumber, Mint and Lime sparkling water to review. Upon opening the box all sorts of ideas popped into my head on what occasions this would be appropriate for - on a hot summer's day, after a long run or as a refreshing pick me up while at work. The bottle is nice, simple and states the information that I like to know - 6 calories per bottle, 100% natural, no added sugar, BPA-free bottle and best of all made in New Zealand. I was impressed with the statement that 1% of revenue goes to helping organisations protect the environment.
I was sold this was going to be a newly acquired product that always lives in my home. The flavors of cucumber, mint and lime certainly are ones that I enjoy - a mojito never lasts long and these flavors often flavor water in our fridge. Upon tasting it I wasn't sold that this would become a part of my pantry too often. The flavors tasted manufactured rather than natural and had a bit of a chemical after taste for me.
I notice that Green & Co have other flavors in their range and I certainly like their philosophy and low calorie beverages so possibly there is another one in the range that suit me better - and I look forward to trying them.
The Cucumber, Mint and Lime flavor really stood out to me as I regularly use these in my water jug for a nice flavor to my water, I was excited to review this product so was happy to be chosen. I had not tried any of the Green & Co products before.
First of all the Bottles are very appealing, BPA free and the perfect size for an individual. Information that you would need to know is easily identified on the bottle. I like that there are no added sugars and that this seems like an eco-friendly option which is something my household has been focusing on lately.
When I first opened the drink it fizzed a lot more than I expected! The smell of mint was also strong! I was not too impressed with the flavor, finding the mint far to strong for my taste. There were slight hints of mint and cucumber that were noticeable but were mostly over powered by the mint. The drink was also very fizzy for something that was described to have a light fizz. I was unable to drink the entire drink as I found it to fizzy for my liking and the mint was very strong almost like having a soda water right after brushing your teeth.
Of the three drinks I have tried in this range, this one is my favourite. When I opened it I thought at first that it was a liqueur as the mint flavour hit me immediately, reminding me of creme de menthe, Then, when I tasted it, I had a similar reaction - it has a full minty flavour that would be worthy of a somewhat diluted liqueur. After I had embarked on a second mouthful, however, I noticed the taste of the cucumber coming through as well. Since this is one of my favourite foods, that was no problem.
I did notice that the lime did not take over the other flavours; you could taste it there in the background but it was not too strong and that did make a difference. The drink was not as acidic as I had expected; I could happily drink the whole bottle in one go and not share it at all. However, I had timed the tasting for when a friend was going to call round, so I thought I had better save some for her to try.
I decorated a couple of small Oriental green tea cups with mint leaves and filled both of them with the drink. They looked quite smart, and made the naturally clear liquid look dark and interesting. I handed her one without telling her what was in it and was interested that she immediately said it was a herb infusion and she could taste mint and something else as well. That supported my own first reaction, that the mint was the predominant flavour. It is interesting that the mint component is a very small percentage of the whole which proves just how strong it is.
The soda content was quite aggressive when the drinks were first poured, but, as with the other varieties in the range, the bubbles quickly subsided and the drink calmed down. We agreed that the drink was best served chilled; the flavours were more pronounced when it was cooler, and went very nicely with the spicy nibbles I had left out as an accompaniment. I would imagine it would go well with curries and chilli dishes, and plan to offer some next time I serve pickled cabbage (which can be very hot indeed!).
We both commented on the various shades of green that make up the label. They do a good job of delivering the relevant product information without overkill. Although the different fonts could be distracting, they are reasonably sized and that means they are still easy to read. This is important as I like to know what I am buying, and will always go for the eco-friendly and natural products in preference to others. She is of similar mind, as are many of my other friends, so I can see some of them being equally positive about this drink.
When I saw the Green & Co Cucumber, Mint and Lime drink available as a review item, I was very excited and immediately thought it sounded like the perfect thing to be drinking as we head into the busy Christmas and New Year time, and especially as a nice alternative to alcohol. I was very pleased to receive 2 flavours of these drinks.
When I received my review box, I straight away put the drinks into the fridge, so they would cool and be ready to drink as soon as possible! The bottle and packaging are eye catching and great - Simple, easy to read, and easy to tell apart as each colour indicates a different flavour. I am very pleased the it has no added sugar also. The bottle itself is a good size - 500ml - enough to give you a couple of glasses of it. The bottle is BPA free - excellent as it means no chemicals to leech into your drink!
Upon opening the bottle, the smell of the drink hit me - and it made me think of summer, relaxing, and cocktails in the sun - my kind of holiday time! I noticed that the drink is more fizzy than I am used to - but as a busy Mum - the chance of me drinking it as soon as I have poured it are a bit slim!
The taste, whilst accurate - really is mostly cucumber/fresh, with a hint of mint and lime. To be honest - the lime is not very noticeable - but the flavours together work really well. Nothing overpowers you, nor blocks out another flavour. I added a dash of extra lime to mine, and found it more to my taste liking.
The price sitting at $4 currently - it is competitive with what is already out there - but is a much better option than soft drinks. I would buy this to drink definitely if I was the driver, or wanted something fresh, and a more healthy option.
Seeing this product up for review I knew I simply just had to try it! Cucumber, mint and lime sounded like a refreshing treat and like a drink I was sure I would love. With a cucumber mad daughter (she would honestly eat a whole cucumber at once if I let her) I thought this might be a treat she would also enjoy (normally we don't let her drink juice unless its a special occasion).
Upon first opening the bottle I was surprised by how much fizz I could hear (as its marketed as lightly sparkling I didn't expect to hear much at all). The second thing I noticed was the scent from the mint. First taste and I really wasn't sure if I liked it. There was definitely a very strong mint flavour which shone through above the cucumber and lime. Coming back to the drink a couple of times, I really didn't like the taste of this drink as the flavour was just to strong and wasn't a nice tasting flavour. I was quite disappointed as I really thought this was a product I was going to love. I put it in the fridge to think on it and return to another day.
Green & Co Spring Water - Cumber, Mint & Lime seems like it has everything right, with no artificial additives, BPA free bottle, and less than 10 calories this drink has lots going for it. I love the size of this bottle, as its a good portion for one person, being not to big but not to small either. I also think this company has got things spot on with the products packaging, its simple yet effective and stands out. Having each different flavour colour coded is also a neat trick I thought.
A couple of days later I tried this drink again and really couldn't bring myself to like the flavour. After reading others reviews on this site I was surprised to see it seemed like I was the only one who felt this way about the taste/flavour of this product. Curious about others tastes I sampled some out to both my parents and husband. All three of them disliked the flavour too, my dad saying it tasted like medicine. Next I took the bottle to work and all eight of my work mates had a little taste. Again, unfortunately no-one loved the product however two agreed it was bearable and liked the taste of cucumber they could taste. Others commented that it tasted like toothpaste.
Unfortunately this is a product we wont be buying in the future, but one I urge you to try for your own so you can make up your own mind
Since I'm breastfeeding I'm meant to be drinking a fair bit of water, I try my hardest but because I don't like boring plain water I don't want to drink it so I fill my water bottles with juice. When I saw these lightly sparkling spring waters thought this would be perfect for flavoured waters. With cucumber being an ingredient in water to help with weight loss I thought this would hit two birds one stone, a flavoured drink and something that will do great things to my body (of course I know it wont make the weight go but its got good elements".
Now out of this and the other drink I have tried I like this one better, the flavour of cucumber is strong when I opened the bottle to start with with a lot of FIZZ (meant to be lightly sparkling). Upon tasting it, I can taste a hint of lime and a hint of mint and more of the cucumber, which I really enjoyed, the mint isnt as strong in this drink and doesn't leave an aftertaste which I'm very happy about. I was happy to drink this drink. After opening it I left it for 3 days and the fizz aspect was still there but it was more dull so become more of a light sparkling like I thought it would be. While its lightly sparkling I can drink it a lot faster.
The fizz aspect made it harder to really drink it fast if you were thirsty I also found it gave me gas and made me burp a lot more than normal.Since drinking it I have also noticed a different in my baby and him passing gas a lot more too. The price for this drink is a bit high for me, but once every so often it wouldn't be so bad, the portion size of the drink is good since I can't drink it in one go it took me over 3 days to actually drink it, so in a day could take me a few drinks during the day.
I love mint in drinks, as it is a strong flavour with a very refreshing element to it. So I was intrigued enough to try this Cucumber Mint and Lime variety (even though it sounds more like a dip for an indian samosa than it does for a drink). The ingredients list is full of natural ingredients that I can easily understand, consisting of cucumber, lime, monkfruit, and mint juices and extracts. And adding up to only 6 calories and 0.8 grams of sugar per 500mL bottle.
The flavour itself is quite interesting. The product is very much well named as the cucumber flavour is front and centre. While Cucumber is quite a bland flavour in itself, it is interesting in how natural the taste is. If I close my eyes, I can almost differentiate between the flavours of both the cucumber flesh, and that of the cucumber seeds. The mint is the main constituent of the aroma and scent of the beverage, as well as the main contributor to the aftertaste.
The overall flavour of the drink is very subtle, and therefore the taste of the sparkling water itself becomes a bigger part of the combined flavour, with the carbonation creating a bit of bitterness to the drink. The lime itself is negligible and just seems to accentuate the mint a little bit more, making it a "sweet" mint rather than a "hot" mint. But it does leave me with some brilliantly fresh breath. I dislike drinking a beverage then finding my breath has gone rancid 10 seconds after finishing it, so the mint really helps this drink by making the aftertaste much more pleasant.
A drink that I'd certainly look out for if I was out on a date or with a significant other, just so I could be hydrated and have a breath freshener at the same time.
