As soon as I saw this I knew this was something my daughter would enjoy and that it is something that we could spend time doing together. I was very excited to see we were chosen to review the Klutz Fashion Portfolio.
The portfolio includes over 100 patterns to choose from to create outfits, we were both very impressed by the selection. The instructions were very clearly set out and explained well for children to be able to understand what to do with or without assistance. The portfolio includes plenty of ideas, goals and fashion advice while still letting the child express themselves as they so desire. There are plenty of styling tips that could carry over from the portfolio into real life which I thought was fantastic!
We in no way way completed the portfolio and there are still plenty of styles for Miss 10 left to create and plenty of patterns and designs left for her to choose from. We really loved the variety of patterns and colours available to choose from. This portfolio is the perfect way for young girls to get creative, express themselves and keep busy!
The Klutz My Fashion Portfolio will be well used, loved and treasured at our place. This would also make a great gift for any pre-teen girl! My youngest son is pending a hospital stay and this will be the perfect activity to entertain Miss 10 while we are at the hospital and in appointments. Mess is very limited and not much in the way of materials are required, only scissors as everything else is included in the portfolio!
My Fashion Portfolio was probably designed with older children in mind but when I saw it I knew my daughters (6 and 7.5 years old) would love it. Miss 7.5 woke up very early on a Saturday morning and instead of switching on the computer or TV was using the book. She knew that I wanted to use the papers with her so she was using the cutouts as stencils and colouring in her own designs. I promised after they had done their chores we would use the book together.
I wish I had a second copy of book as both my girls wanted to do everything in it. I had to play umpire and get them to take turns. The concept of the book is very simple. There are lots of pieces of coloured card and paper that you place under the cut out figures to clothe them with your own designs. Miss 6 was first to have a go and struggled with the idea of cutting out pieces that were larger than the hole but knew what to do with her second turn.
The book also has lots of ideas but both my girls chose to go with their own designs. It is a book that caters for both the creative and the copiers. It would make a great gift for any of their friends. After spending over an hour on it we only stopped because the table was needed for lunch. We still have plenty more to do in the book. The only thing I would have changed about it was to have a more durable storage pocket for the papers.
