I had the pleasure of meeting Susan Jeffers at a book launch and promotion recently, and I must really say what a dynamic, versatile and stimulating lady she is. Susan answered many questions relating to this book, previous books and even her personal life. It seemed no question was too personal for Susan to answer and she did answer many questions related to her book and more.
I chatted with her afterwards and found her very honest and approachable, and not at all as one might expect from international authors-even to the point of asking me for a hug. Those who know me, know not to touch me, I am not a huggy person. Susan told me to get over it and give her a hug anyway.
Now to her book-
Susan Jeffers offers plenty of common sense ideas on working on one's relationship, even if they are not the usual common sense ideas that most use.
Jeffers points out that too many of us are ready to blame our partner for everything, and fail to look at ourselves, a technique she calls using the mirror instead of the magnifying glass. Jeffers also offers a huge amount of affirmations one can use, and frequently refers to them throughout her book. These affirmations are used to work on oneself and tells us we need to work on our selves first.
I have no partner at the moment, and all I can say, when such time that I happen to have a partner, I will be using the affirmations and techniques Jeffers refers to in my future relationships. It is commonsense, and it has made me reassess my past relationships in great detail. It has stopped me blaming my ex for why our relationship failed and given me cause for introspection as to my part in the failure of our relationship. I have let go of a lot of past anger and because of this, the book has done what it has set out to do. Whatever will happen, I will handle it.
Feel the fear and beyond is essential reading for anyone in a relationship or wanting a relationship. Buy it now, read it now and use the tools contained within this book. I look forward to reading Jeffers' previous books and her future books. I also look forward to meeting her again to tell her how things have changed for the better for me.
In short, a great read.
I will have to give it a ten for effectiveness, though I have yet to put it in practice, but after talking with Jeffers, I am certain her suggestions, techniques and observations will be effective.
