My 2 year old is well known for going through many different art products either due to her pressing the tips of felt pens in or from snapping the tips off colouring in pencils, so I have been on a hunt for a while to find an art material that she can't just break in 5 seconds, however this hasn't proven to be a very easy task! During a sale at our local book shop I saw the Stadetler Noris Club Basic Gel Crayons on sale. These looked like the perfect size for her little hands to grasp and I liked the idea that they were a twist type pen which meant that I could twist out a small amount of the crayon in the hope that they wouldn't get snapped within minutes, and with a cap on each one they were sure to stay safe when not in use, no risk of crayon rubbing against the walls or tables!

The pack of crayons came in a variety of 6 colours red, yellow, orange, blue, green and brown which I quite liked as sometimes it's good to only have a small amount of colours to choose from and the primary colours are great for this as they allow about of exploration in regards to colour mixing.. The lids were easy enough for my 2 year old to pull on and off the crayons, but were a bit difficult for her to twist up and down herself (which in my case of wanting to prevent them from breaking in minutes is a good thing). The colours were rich, bold and bright and glided over the paper perfectly, though they reminded me more of pastels than crayons with a glossy smooth finish.

The colours mixed and blended together really well and are easy to wash off surfaces, we got some on the bench top and also on the tile floor and both removed with a simple wipe of a wet cloth. We have tested these out on black paper and though the results weren't as vibrant as on the white paper they still looked well. After reading that they are suitable for drawing on glass I decided to let Miss 2 do some window painting with them, they glided on beautifully over the glass and certainly brightened them up with great designs easily seen on both sides, when we were done they washed off fine with a bucket of warm soapy water.

Would recommend these as a mess free, easily to handle art material for young children, a great size and so easy to use!
