I don't drink alcohol so at a party or when at a restaurant my drink of choice is lemon, lime and bitters so I had to try Soda Stream's Crafted Lemon Lime. I now have a new favourite Soda Stream flavour. It was also enjoyed by my husband and our daughters (6 and 7.5 years old) to the point that I have had to hide the syrup so they don't use it all up.
The only downside of this syrup is the cost. The bottle only makes nine litres of drink compared to 12 litres of the regular Soda Stream syrup range for the same cost. This puts my husband off buying more syrup so I will be sneaking it into the house and keeping it in my hiding place. The other thing we both found a little confusing was which line on the cap we were meant to use to measure out the syrup. As a result we both found what suits us using a bit of trial and error.
I really loved the refreshing taste of this drink both with and without ice. I liked that there was no colouring in it. This is good not only for our health but also the new carpet in our home. Comparing the list of ingredients with those in the Summer Lemon syrup it is obvious Lemon Lime has less ingredients and more natural ones too. Although I haven't tried it yet I believe these would make great iceblocks using diluted but uncarbonated syrup. This would be a great way of getting fluids into a sick child (or adult).
I'm a true lime lover, so the opportunity to try soda streams new crafted lemon lime was something I couldn't pass up. I rushed to make one as soon as I got the bottle home! I used chilled water and ice cubes and a twig of peppermint in my glass for a touch of elegance. I was disappointed, as it wasn't the flavour I was expecting, and yet my family adored it and each asked for a refill. This especially surprised me from my husband as he is not really a lime / lemon drinker, but he said "Isn't this good? I love how refreshing it is!" I made another one and added some extra flavouring to mine, and found it much more to my taste. Clearly years of having lime drinks has addled my taste buds a little and they are immune to a subtle flavour that the rest of the family found perfect.
This is however one of the advantages of soda stream, you can add more or less flavouring in order to suit your own taste buds. I found that as I worked my way through the bottle I managed to get the mix right, and this became a perfect summer drink. So I encourage those of you who are not immediately wowed, to add a little more flavour and experiment with your mix as you will be pleasantly surprised.
The bottle is very easy to find as it is a solid green colour, with a 'classic' logo across the front. I think they could make the packaging a little brighter to appeal more to consumers. One thing I noticed on the packaging is that it makes 7 - 9 litres opposed to my other soda stream flavour, which had the same volume 440mls, but makes up to 9 litres, so perhaps this flavour is designed to have a little more flavouring added?
In this new Classics Range, the new Lemon Lime is a true summer winner. I love their other flavour Summer Lemon which is almost fluffy in its taste, but this one just really is spot on when you really want that quenching drink in the sun. Imagine a large 5 litre carafe of lemon lime with ice cubes and lemon lime slices. Sun going down, lawns cut relaxing in the shade.
This flavour is my favourite of their new range of classics. I love the new Watties sauce-esque bottle shape, it is so easy to pour out a measure into the cap which is deeper and longer than the stubby bottle caps, it has clear inner ring markings to easily see where to measure the concentrate to, it is such an improvement.
Opening the bottle had me a bit stumped at first I was looking for a tab with my nails to flick and then pull the wrapper off the top cap, but in the end all you have to do is twist the lid and it breaks the seal. It was probably just because of how keen I was to get into it - I should have opened my eyes.
No complaints from the rest of the family with this flavour, we will be taking the Soda Stream machine away with us and definitely packing this flavour while we are away.
I was lucky enough to be able to review the Crafted Lemon Lime by soda stream. We have had our soda stream machine for over a year now and it gets hammered over the summer time. We are always looking for new and exciting non alcoholic drinks so couldn't wait to try it.
The first thing I noticed was the new style bottle. I am not sure if this is just because it is a "crafted" soda stream flavour or if they are planning on doing this style in all flavours, but I much prefer the bottle this shape. Its easier to pick up an hold onto, it takes up less space in my pantry which is always a bonus and my toddler even got to help as she could handle it easily. I put in a small amount after fizzing up my water. I like the fact that with any soda stream flavour you can tailor it to your taste by adding in more or less of the flavouring. I was actually expecting it to be a bit sweeter than it was so was pleasantly suprised to find it wasn't.
I made sure my drink was poured over ice so it was nice and cold. It was really refreshing and even my fussy partner said how nice the drink was. We didn't manage to finish drinking the bottle and decided to save it for later. Miss 3 was nagging that she wanted some ice blocks and noticed we didn't have any. So we took the opportunity to use up the last of the soda stream and place it into ice block moulds. Will update this review once they have frozen enough to taste!
Great job soda stream on another great flavour. I look forward to seeing these and more flavours at my local stockist.
I was surprised to see that this soda stream flavour came in an unusual shaped bottle - but one that I liked. It was easy to handle and pour. I normally drink lemon and lime at BBQ's so was keen to try this as may save me a little bit of money over the summer. I do find that some of the soda stream flavours are a little too sweet for me and thought this being naturally flavoured may be not as sweet.
When pouring this syrup into the fizzy water I was surprised that it did not fizz quickly like some flavours do which I appreciated. It smelt like lemon and lime and had the flavours came through nicely in the drink. What I also noticed however was the taste of the artificial sweetener. I am really not a fan of artificial sweeteners and feel that in this case the taste of these over took the flavour of the drink. I would like to see soda stream use a natural sweetener such to go with the 'natural flavour'.
I think that soda stream products are very well priced however because of the taste of artificial sweeteners I will not be purchasing this again.
Usually in summer we get a bottle of the Soda Stream Summer Lemon, and we go through it quite quickly. I would say we drink largely that syrup, with guests and go through a few bottles every BBQ season. When I had the chance to try this Crafted Lemon Lime though, I jumped at the chance. It seemed like it would be a winner and I was right.
We opened the bottle on game night and offered it to everyone there. Even the guy who usually just drinks black coffee here, had to try it. We all had some and then some more and then some more. It has become THE drink for the group since it came home, and for that reason the bottle is almost completely empty.
Hubby had some bitters in his drinking tool kit and so he has been sneaking in some bitters and making a few more exciting drinks with this as the main mixer. It is really delicious. Because it is Soda Stream you really have complete control over how sweet it is. It is great with bitters, as well as with vodka. It would be excellent in a punch as well. As this was so well received, I have added it to our shopping list for after payday. If I don't buy it, my friends will buy some for us to store for game night.

Grey de Luxe is my interpretation of Earl Grey; true to the original, with special touches to make it a little more Madame Flavour.
Each silky pod is filled with smooth Ceylon and malty Assam leaf tea, a pinch of lemon myrtle for it's sumptuous citrus; and a sprinking of lavender flowers, whose scent is familair and timeless, just like this luxurious blend.
