Product reviews...
The first thing I noticed about this syrup flavour was that it had a rather unusual name, I had to Google the difference between Pink Lemonade and regular Lemonade, and found that the main difference is just the addition of some sort of rose-coloured food colouring or other fruit extracts, like cranberry juice or strawberry. To be honest, I didn't pick up on any other flavours, I only picked up on the lemon.
The taste of the drink was still quite pleasant, however. I had this stuff in it's fizzed-up version first, but unfortunately our Sodastream machine ran out of gas and I wasn't able to get a refill in time, so to refresh my memory of the flavour, I got to try this stuff without carbonating the water, and the results were rather interesting. The CO2 masked a bit of the flavour, leaving it a bit bland but still tasty overall. When I tried it without fizzing the water, more of the underlying flavour came out, and I was quite pleased with what I tasted.
The drink was smooth, sweet, and didn't contain any particularly high levels of tartness, there was just enough "kick" in it which made things interesting. As I said before, I definitely picked up on the lemon in the mix, but I was really happy that it was toned down as I find lemons TOO tart for my taste, so this syrup was a really nice way to enjoy lemonade. Once our machine is topped up with gas and ready to use again, I will have to track down another bottle of this syrup, as I have gone through almost all of it, and I would really love to have this as a soft drink again!
Overall, I think that this is a great addition to Sodastream's "Fruit" flavours, and it is one I would highly recommend to anyone, I'm sure any kids would love it, but be careful as it is quite addictive! Other than this, I have nothing else to add. Enjoy!
I was lucky enough to get to review the soda stream pink lemonade water fruits. I was quite excited as with having a new baby I had been searching for something non alcoholic to drink over the summer period, so was hoping this was it!
I am loving the shape of the bottle. It's a lot easier to hold onto in this slimmer bottle compared to the wide shorter bottles that previous soda stream syrups had been in. I really enjoyed the fact that my inquisitive toddler can help me make it as its an easy size for her to be able to grip as well. I found it was really easy to break the seal and open. The seal idea is fabulous as I am a person who checks seals of drinks when I purchase them. So with the seal being the plastic around the bottle it's easy to see by glancing at it whether it has been opened previously.
When I first opened the bottle I was hit by a strong sugary smell and automatically I thought this was going to be far too sweet. I turned the lid upside down and looked for the line that I was meant to fill the concentrate to but it was really hard to find. I literally had to spend at least 5 minutes looking for it on different angles and then asking my partner until we finally found it. I filled it to the line and tipped it into my pre fizzed water. I didn't think it mixed in really well so I turned the bottle upside down a few times gently to mix it.
I poured my drink into the glass and took a sip. It wasn't as sweet as I thought it could be when I smelt it the taste was almost really subtle but refreshing. I decided to add a wee bit more so that I could really taste the flavour without it being overpowering. That is another thing I really like about this product is that I can add or remove concentrate to make it suit mine and my families taste making it a really versatile drink.
Another great flavour of drink by soda stream that I really enjoyed. I am unsure what the pricing is like on this as I haven't been able to find any at my local supermarket and would be interested to see what it retails for.
I enjoy a mouth watering fizzy drink, however will quite often chose not to drink due to the sugar content so was keen to give soda streams water fruits a try.
The packaging for this syrup was not the typical soda stream shape bottle which made it easy to handle. The measuring cap was cleverly designed so that your measure would not spill on the outside of bottle when cap was put back on. I would love to see a cap design that had a pour spout however so you could slowly pour into the soda stream water to avoid it fizzing too quickly.
This lemonade was pink in colour and had a lovely flavour to it. Definitely not too sweet - was just like they stated, flavoured sparkling water. It was very refreshing and I was pleased it was neither too sweet or two bitter as lemonade can sometimes be. It does use fructose as a sweetener which is not a personal choice but definitely better than artificial sweeteners.
This is definitely a soda stream product that I will be purchasing over summer as drinking this not only quenched the thirst but knowing that there was no artificial colours or preservatives makes it more appealing to me.
I really love the picture on this bottle, it reminds me of the movie Greece with the Pink Ladies. Since I have heard so much about Pink Lemonade from American Television shows it only seemed fitting. I am not a fan of the new bottles though, I find the pouring cap to be too dark and can not see the lines that clearly and also when dipping into the bottles it can be quite messy, prefer the old style.
I have had this drink a couple of times and made it various ways. On one occasion to the band as instructed, on another to the lower band and on another to the very top and honestly no matter how much mixture I use I am just not a fan. The rest of the family love it and all agree it is much better than the original concentrated version but to be honest I do not like that either. I just find it either too watery or far to sweet I have not found that perfect balance.
I think this would be great made as ice cubes and put into either a cup of juice or even water to just give it that extra sweetener but on its own I just can not enjoy. I will still play around with it and try and find that right balance for my taste buds as the rest of the family are insisting we always have this in the pantry.
Since being given a bottle of Soda Stream Waters Fruit in Pink Lemonade to review I have been looking out for it in the supermarkets. I haven't seen it in any of them. The only store I have seen them in has been Briscoes. There they usually sell for $9.99 a bottle but I bought a bottle on special for $7.49. It is same price as the regular range of Soda Stream syrups but makes up to 9 litres whereas the regular ones make up to 12 litres.
I fell in love with pink lemonade while holidaying in Los Angeles many years ago. It was available alongside all the other fizzy drinks so we would buy it by the jug in resturants. I have never seen any here in New Zealand so I was keen to try the one Soda Stream had put out in their new Waters Fruits range. I wasn't disappointed. It is just as I recalled. I gave it to my daughters and they enjoyed it too. I like how I can with the soda stream I can adjust the carbonation and strengh to suit our individual tastes. I found that the pink lemonade was too fizzy for me if I allowed the machine to burp. The colour and sweetness was just right when I filled the syrup to the first line.
I am looking forward to trying this in refreshing iceblocks (I didn't have the freezer space to do it yet) as well as mocktails and cocktails. The fact that it is has no artificial colours, no preservatives and naturally sweetened is a bonus for me and my family.
Seeing the Soda Stream Water Fruits - Pink Lemonade made me think about the many litres of pink lemonade that I had consumed during my holiday to America a few years ago, it was perfect on the hot summers day which I experienced over there and was readily available everywhere in every shape and form fresh, frozen, carbonated, in a slushy and even in candy it certainly is a very popular American flavour choice. However in New Zealand it is not something that you often come across, though I have happened to find some cans of Minute Maid pink lemonade recently at the United Sweets American food kiosks, so when the chance came up to review some pink lemonade I leapt at the chance.
Being called 'Water Fruits' rather than just traditional Soda Stream gave me the impression that the drink may be more healthier than the classic syrups or perhaps it would have less taste to it and would taste more like slightly flavoured carbonated water, I certainly was wrong in regards to the taste! It was full of flavour with a full on pink lemonade taste that certainly resembled the real thing. It was really refreshing and tasted fantastic served over ice, the measurements of water to syrup were spot on, though the beauty of Soda Stream is that you can add more or less syrup to suit your taste. My partner raved about it and straight away asked me to make him a slushy out of it which we tried out and it was a huge hit full of flavour and not watery at all due to the crushed ice level, we have even used it to make ice blocks, we did this simply by diluting about 3/4 a cap of syrup in 1 and a 1/2 cups of cold water and pouring it directly into the moulds and leaving in the freezer until set (no need to fizz the water this time round), the ice blocks froze perfectly and tasted even better!
The best thing about this syrup is that it is naturally flavoured and contains no artificial colours or preservatives which is a bit of a bonus for me as fizzy drinks are normally jammed packed full of all these artificial nasties. This is definetely going on my to buy list for the upcoming summer months when our current bottle runs out!
