Cool stuff, now you can have pizza all the way to your fingertips. Gives you more of a value for money feeling while you eat your favourite pizza.
I have been happy with all of the pizzas and side dishes I've received from Dominos'. Some have been a little messier than others, but I tend to worry about that after I have attended to the 'rumbly in my tumbly.'
I might suggest the use of a napkin for some, with the toppings being right to the edge of the crust, handling it while hot can be a little awkward. I had the chance of trying this base with the Supreme toppings and wish I'd been able to go for the Meatasaurus. The idea of double meat is just too good.
In short, I look forward to the next time I can't be bothered cooking so I can try other toppings with this base.
I have to admit, it amuses me that there is a surcharge for a pizza where they take something away... admittedly there is the addition of extra cheese etc but I tend to eat the crusts regardless so ~shrug~.
Another problem I found was that there is nothing to hang on to! Most people use the crust as a handle of sorts - I know I certainly do.
Having said all that there is certainly something decadent and delicious about having almost nothing but filling! We had this one with the supreme topping and oh boy was it tasty! The extra cheese etc really sets the topping off, and my boys both loved it...
All in all if you don't mind the surcharge and don't eat your crusts, it's well worth it!
OK, I need to explain why the slightly "Lower Than I'm Happy With" score... simply put, this is not something new, it's just something MORE... no great hunk of pizza base that has gone chewy as it cools, it's literally an extension of the pizza right to... THE EDGE! (Funny that...) It tastes as good as whatever else is on the pizza, it takes the same time to make as the pizza, but you get a little bit extra filling... and heaps more cheese... though I have an internal debate going on as to whether it warrants an extra $2 (oh come on, it's $2! Get real here!) since with one of the many supermarket-till-receipt coupons you can score a whole pizza for only $7.00... maybe if it was an extra $1.00 it would be considered a great deal.
Got a chance to really give this a taste test at the recent GAMESnight where Domino's kindly sponsored a stack of pizzas, and had to admit, though it wasn't quite what I was expecting, it sure did taste yum! We had it on a Meatosaurus, so the extra cheese was there... defintely there.
Overall, Yummo! But you may or may not consider it worthwhile if you are like some of our GAMESnight attendees, and simply inhale the pizza regardless of what's on it. (Not mentioning any names at all... -grin- )
