Certified organic tea from the Banaspaty tea gardens in Assam, northern India. Whether you're into organic teas or not, the beauty of this tea lies in it's taste. Although the small leaf size might suggest it, this tea is not as strong as similar leaf teas. Brewing quickly as a breakfast tea should, the flavour is well balanced and lively.
Strength: Medium to strong
Makes: ~40 cups

Tea , scones and cream - now that to me is a fancy afternoon - or breakfast ! Do not be fooled by the name of this tea - Assam Breakfast Organic Tea - it is good at ANY time of the day !
Loose leaf tea is something that I have been trying in the last year - in an effort to drink less coffee , try to have less processed and chemically drinks , and hey , broaden my horizons !! In my house my husband is the tea connoisseur - but I will get to his verdict soon . Tea Total tea had been previously recommended to me as a really nice and , even better , organic tea . It is not overly pricey for a loose leaf and organic tea , and is a really good quality , in my opinion .
The packet is a nice one - dark brown and black - nice enough to sit on a bench , ready to be used . There is a handy clear window on the back so you can actually see the tea - always a pleasing thing . The packet has instructions for all of its teas on the back - which is handy , and it tells you where your tea is from - in this case Northern India .
My husband has a short and sweet review - '' that is good tea '' - and from him - that is a big compliment as he is a tea lover . He said he would happily buy that again . My review is a a little more - to brew the tea - not a lot of effort is required - and minimal wait - 3 to 4 minutes . It states the strength is medium - strong - I think it leans more towards the medium - not overpowering , but not understated either .
I prefer to drink my tea on the cooler side , and even with a delay in drinking it - I did not find the flavour changed much from when I had sipped it hot . If I added a little sugar to it , I think it could be drunk as an iced tea also .
Overall I really enjoyed this tea , have passed the bag on to my sister to try , and would definitely purchase it again .
I always feel fancy when I get to use loose leaf tea. This product comes in a nice resealable foil packet. The packaging is rather aesthetically pleasing, and when you think about it, it's a product that you could easily keep out on the bench; it isn't a cheap looking box that you throw in the back of the pantry. It's almost a fashion statement, or a talking point about the kitchen area. Easily accessible, and able to keep the contents fresh. A pretty reasonable and competitive price for organic tea considering the number of portions available. Though on the steep side compared to the major mass-produced brands.
As far as tea goes, this one does as it says. A very quick drink, with little effort needed to brew. This is a beverage that really needs to be consumed as quickly as it is brewed. Drinking it soon after brewing, the flavour is rather subdued, but very smooth and light. However if left too long, it quickly becomes bitter and the strength becomes more prominent in the flavour. Personally, I can't drink tea straight after brewing, and have a tendency to let my teas cool down a lot, which doesn't make this blend ideal. It can be overcome however with the addition of an ice cube to speed up the coll down period of the beverage.
