My daughter saw an ad for Shopkins on the televison and managed to sweet talk her nana into buying her a few - since then she has been hooked and all I hear about is shopkins. She has even got her three year old sister involved with them and they both watch youtube clips of complete strangers opening up their shopkins and talking about them. A couple weeks back my daughter brought home the book clubs mailer and in it had this book she begged and pleaded and even said she would use her own money to buy it - luckily I received through KIWIreviews and got to review.

As soon as I opened the box she spotted the book and grabbed it and started squealing saying I was the best mother is the world and how much she loved me. So thank you in advance for that great moment. Since then every spare second has been of her looking throughout the book and reading about their personalities, their likes, secret talents, quotes and finding out occasionally who is whose best friend.

The book is very cute and set out really well. It is split up into catorgories and then there is a picture of the shopkin followed by some very important information that 'everyone just must know' or else you are not a real shopkin fan (apparently). It also has a 'Collector's Shopping List' which also states if the Shopkin is a common, rare, ultra rare or special edition and also if it is a Glitter Shopkin, Frozen Shopkin, Metallic Shopkin, Blink Shopkin or a Fluffy Baby Shopkin - yes there are a lot of varities. Also the book includes the most important thing a poster which went straight onto her wall.

I am really impressed with how careful my daughter has been with this book and now over a week later and she is still going strong with it. She is wanting to take to school for a show and tell and tonight at Pippins she has been asked to bring something along to talk about and she wants to bring this book - not the shopkins just the book. Even if we had not received this book to review I would of brought it because it really is good value. A must for anyone with kids that is obsessed with Shopkins.

My kids love Shopkins. They started out watching unboxings and blind basket opening videos on YouTube, and quickly became obsessed. Now Miss 8 really likes collecting any type of toy and has more than her fair share of Squinkies and other little objects. But Miss 3 is the one who is leading the charge on these toys. I can not even take her to a store without her running around screaming "Shopkins".

I was organising my latest review goodies when I heard that exact battle cry and she came running at me at full steam ahead! I had accidentally flashed this book in her direction and she was claiming ownership before her sister could see the book. I held it up and had a 3 year old girl jumping as high as she could, arms stretching as far too. "Please mummy! Please I have Shopkins!" How could I refuse her, with such lovely manners, so I handed her the book.

She quickly found herself a little spot on the couch and started to pour through the pages. I noticed that she was being very careful with her new book, and would laugh and say "I got that one" whenever she saw a familiar shape or face. I went into the kitchen to start dinner and then I heard the outrage of an 8 year old. I peeked around the corner and there was a tug-o-war going on. I had to step in and Miss 8 was unimpressed that she couldn't look at the book. I promised her a look once Miss 3 was in bed.

At bedtime, Miss 3 insisted on lining up all of her Shopkins toys and matching them against the toys in this book. Each of the toys has a little blurb about it. Some include quotes, some include hobbies, favourite colours, books, etc. She loved all of these juicy facts being read out to her as she would find another from the book in her collection.

I liked that there is checklists included in the book. While you get them in every packet, it is hard to keep track of them and they easily get ripped. The checklist will be a nice handy reference in the book. Plus there is a poster which will be going on a wall as soon as Miss 3 moves to her own room. This is a great book for any kid who is collecting Shopkins and needs more Shopkins in their life. It's a quick read through and a bit of fun. I don't imagine I will be getting my girls to share it though, so I may have to buy another. At this price, it feels like an easy choice to buy that second copy though.
