Product reviews...
We used to have sky television and this was one of my 3 year olds favourite programmes on disney junior. We no longer have sky so when this DVD arrived to review my son was very excited and had to watch it straight away. It is a relatively long DVD with lots of different episodes to watch and he watched it from start to finish without getting bored, luckily it was a rainy day so we had an excuse to blob in front of the TV for a while.
In the episodes of Tree Fu Tom, Tom and his friends are always out to save the day in Treetopolois from disasters usually involving the stink mushrooms and they use their magical powers to save Treetopolois from disaster. They get you involved at home when they need to use big world magic to make a super powered spell.
During these spells Tom encourages you to get up and get into the "Spell Pose" encouraging movement to send him your magic powers to help the spell work. I like this aspect as it gets the kids right into the programme and gets them up and moving. My son always finds it hillarious to get into the spell poses and it encourages him to copy actions which helps him learn to pay attention to details which is something extra you don't always get in kids programes.
The episodes also have the message that being good and kind always wins the day, with the stink mushrooms always failing in their quest to use magic to get Tom and his friends in trouble. I like the fact that the stink mushrooms always get caught out as it shows being good is a better option to young children.
We will definitely be watching this DVD time and time again as it is my sons fave and we will keep an eye out for new DVDs with different episodes to watch in the future.
Random listing from 'Entertainment'...
It was essential viewing in the 1980's for any self-respecting stroppy and opinionated person under 25, and it is just as fresh, vicious, original and hilarious now. Manic and mad, rude and pretty revolting actually, those Fab Four Scumbag students - Rik, Vyv, Neil and Mike.
This release contains all episodes of the second series - 'Bambi', 'Nasty', 'Time', 'Summer Holiday', 'Cash' and 'Sick'.
