From its tussock-clad hills to its crystal clear rivers, our home in Central Otago has always been a place of inspiration for us. The natural ingredients we use and the passion we pour into our craft pay homage to this and result in the authentic, full-flavoured juice you see before you today.
We take the most flavoursome, sun-ripened fruits from local mountain orchards and bottle them the old fashioned way so you can enjoy the intense natural flavours of the region all year round. This is a juice like no other. In fact, we like to think of our drinks as "juiced fruit", rather than fruit juice. What's more, we seal in all the goodness and flavour, but leave out all the additives - you won't find any preservatives here.
Product reviews...
Yum yum yum! I was lucky to be given the chance to review another flavour of the Benjer Juice and this one blew my mind. I live in Dunedin and often shop at the local farmers market which is full of Central Otago fruit. So I was excited to see that this was made in Central Otago which is nice and local and has an amazing range of fruit.
Blown away from the moment I opened the bottle to the moment I drank the last bit. It had an amazing crisp flavour to it. It wasn't too tangy/tart or sweet it was just right. I closed my eyes while taking the first sip and it took me back to Central Otago eating apples on a hot summers day. It was lovely and refreshing and to me would be the perfect drink on a hot summers day poured over some ice.
I struggled when opening the bottle and it took me a bit to get the lid off. It kept sliding around in circles and I couldn't get the seal to break. I ended up having to get out a butter knife to flick the cap up and break the seal. The bottle size is perfect as it fits nicely in your hand when holding onto it to drink. Another amazing drink flavour that I will definately be buying again!
I like a good apple juice, I'm just not a big fan of either a generic flavored apple juice or an expensive small bottle of juice so I was keen to try this and see how it stacked up in comparison.
I wanted to use some of this to experiment with and needed half a cups worth of the juice for my recipe. There wasn't much sediment at the bottom of the bottle so I didn' need to give it much of a shake to mix it up and it didn't make it horribly cloudy when done. I've been perfecting making my own jelly lollies at home which uses water but I figured juice would be just as good and add more flavor to them. My jelly mixture always uses a packet of jelly crystals but doesn't give much in the way of flavor by the end of it but comparing this to the lollies I made using the apple juice... YUM! And it got a big thumbs up from all who tried it.
After making my lollies I had just enough left to fill a small cup with the juice and giving it a sip I was delighted to find that there was a wonderful apple taste to it, nothing too tart or sweet, just a nice and crisp flavor to it and I wish I had had another bottle of this to drink. I like design on the bottle and I LOVE the lid that's on it (I thought it said 'Joy' at first until I turned it around and saw it was a picture of New Zealand). I enjoyed this enough that if I go out to a cafe and they have this drink on hand, this will be what I pick from the bunch.
I love apple juice and am always looking for new juices to try out. I had been really looking forward to trying this product, Benjer apple juice as I have tried several other juices from the Benjer range when out at restaurants for dinner and they have always been a hit especially the apple and boysenberry and the nectarine varieties.
This apple juice was absolutely delicious and by far one of the best juices that I have tried, as soon as I saw the colour of the juice through the bottle I could see that it was that of a crisp colour, and the sediment at the bottom of the bottle showed that it was made from real ingredients rather than artificial ones. In just a few quick shakes the juice was well mixed and ready to drink. I couldn't wait to take my first sip, knowing that it was made from 100% premium NZ fruit, meant I knew I could drink it without feeling guilty for drinking a pile of sugar, as in fact all I was drinking was pure apple juice and the fact it was made from NZ apples was a even bigger bonus. The juice had a fantastic taste to it, it tasted just like you were eating an apple straight from the fruit bowl crisp and fresh, without the over powering sugary taste that you get from many juices these days.
The bottles are made from glass, which I personally prefer over plastic and cans, and the labels are beautifully presented with a picture of a real apple and eye-catching fonts. It was nice being able to read a bit of the history behind Benjer and knowing that it was made right here in Otago, New Zealand made me happy to know that buying this product means I am supporting our country. Definitely one of the better juices on the market, which I will be looking out for in the supermarket.
I love apple juice so was excited to try this and I am pleased to say I absolutely loved it it has to be the best apple juice I have ever tried. The fact you could see some sediment in the bottle when you looked through it showed how natural it was and I was pleased to read it had no artificial colours of flavours or anything added to it. It is great to have something natural to drink that shows the apple juice off for what it is because this drink just goes to prove you don't need to add anything to it.
My 13 year old daughter loves apple juice so we shared this and once she had finished her share she was begging me for more of mine. I would love to find a stockist near me to buy more as these would be great for birthday parties when you don't want to feed the kids up on lots of sugar or colourings. I would be completely happy for my kids to drink this juice as it is a real good quality natural juice that I know is good for them. My girl thought it would be a good drink to have when you were sick.
The bottles are really attractive and I love the blurb on the bottle that tells you a little story about how the juice is made it makes you feel close to the makers of the juice like you should with a locally made product. In fact I love the fact that it is made in NZ with NZ fruit as I love supporting home grown products and know that being made here it will be great quality like it is. Will definitely be buying more of this.
I live in Otago so I was really excited to get the chance to review Cromwell's Benjer Apple Juice. Our family is lucky enough to holiday in sunny Central Otago and we have driven past the Benjer factory near Cromwell on a few occasions.
My fourteen year old daughter is a lover of Apple juice, regularly ordering Apple juice when we go out for tea or at the local cafe. The glass bottle made it easy for us to check out the colour of the juice, we noticed some sediment at the bottom, but this was easily mixed with a few gentle shakes. The cap was quite hard to get off though, especially as the bottle was chilled and had a bit of condensation it.
The juice had a fantastic taste, it really was like a mouthful of apples! No syrupy, sugary taste like most other apple juices I have tasted on the market. My daughter absolutely loved the crisp fresh taste as well, which led us to check the ingredient list, which said 100% apples and that was it! Wow, no additives, no added sugar, just apples. What a rare find.
I would recommend to all, very easy to drink and so refreshing to have after a long day at work. You may need a few bottles though, hard to stop at one.
Without a doubt one of the nicest pure-apple juices I have come across in a very long time, and to find it with no preservatives, additive, extra sugar or... well... anything, was a very pleasant surprise. Normally, juice this tasty and clear has *something* extra added to it! Not the case here...
Probably the first thing you'll notice is the clarity - there's a sediment layer at the bottom which shows you it's real and not massively over-processed and filtered... and really, who doesn't mind the odd floatie bit in REAL juice anyway - but the bulk of the juice is crystal clear, so clear in fact you wonder if it's not actually apple-flavoured water. Nope, Just the juice, the whole juice and nothing but the juice so help you apple.
The flavour was beautifully balanced for a drink - sweet but not overly so, subtle but still clearly there - which made it perfect to drink on its own (which I did) or as a base for something fruity and buzzy for Summer. However, I was a little sad to realise it wouldn't be strong enough to use in any of my regular go-to dessert treats as the flavour would quickly get lost under other ingredients.
Overall, a lovely drop, and one I would happily drink again. I could only wish for a stronger, more robust flavour so I could use it as the star ingredient in something, but that's not likely to happen without adding something 'extra' to it that would undoubtedly ruin it's pristine ingredient list.... so I'll have to just enjoy it as an awesome drink.
