'Bergdorf Blondes are a thing, you know, a New York craze. Absolutely everyone wants to be one, but it's très difficult. You wouldn't believe the dedication it takes to be a gorgeous, flaxen-haired, dermatologically perfect New York girl with a life that's fabulous beyond belief.
Honestly, it requires a level of commitment comparable to, say, learning Hebrew or quitting cigarettes.'
Introducing moi:
A champagne bubble of a girl about town working at being a princess by day and by night on the prowl for that exclusive, must-have accessory every girl simply demands: an impossibly rich fiancé.

Took me a little while to get into this book... and to be honest without the very helpful one page glossaries scattered along the way I'd still be lost in a forest of acronyms and peach Bellinis.
The main character is sweet if rather clueless, and most of the others are certainly interesting to read about, but don't expect any deep and meaningful lessons from this book.
Plotline is at least bearable, however a distinct lack of twists and turns tends towards predictability - something I particularly dislike in a book.
Overall the book is actually quite readable, if light fare... and if you want something to fill in a rainy Sunday afternoon, it's the perfect match for you.
It's like ya know... just beyond!
With handy lists throughout this book to translate the lifestyles and loves of the average rich NYC girl, such as Manhattan Shorthand - a translation, New York Nervous Breakdown and Front Row Girls - the 101, you will have some clue about how these girls live...
Julie Bergdorf is the girl of the moment, who all the other Manhattanite girls aspire to be, and our main character is "Moi" who is one of the, just between you and me, and on the d-l, not quiet up to that kind of lifestyle - but being best friends with the girl of the moment sure helps!
With Jolene, Mimi, Muffy, Zach, Charlie and a host of other characters who will make you ponder about the lives of others, jetsetting on the p-j's and dining on foods that sound too rich to even think about, let alone eat without them going straight to your hips... and a truckload of Bellinis of course... you will discover that in the end, all we all want, no matter the size of the Wollman on your finger, that true love will conquer all... even if it's with the last person you would expect!
