Even though we have a dishwasher, I must admit it is not something that we use very often unless we have a group of people over for dinner or something as with only 2 adults and a child in the house I never really see the need, just as fast and cheaper to wash them by hand. However at times when we use the dishwasher we always use Finish Powerball Quantum Dishwasher Tablets in lemon scent.
The invention of Finish Powerball Tablets has got to be one of the best inventions ever, I absolutely love them. I used to use dish washing powder in my dishwasher until a few years back, which is when I decided to give the Powerball tablets ago, they were noticeably more expensive but the write up about them seemed that they may do a better job at cleaning my dishes, I was so sick of having white marks and streaks over the dishes when they had been washed, especially on the glasses and cutlery, so much so that I would end up washing them again by hand!
The tablets come in a pack of 10 (although you can also get them in larger packs) which works out to be at just over $1 per tablet, a little steep, but not to bad, and you can often get cheap deals on them online which is always good for stocking up on. The pack is resealable which I like due to the fact that these are not individually wrapped, and so having the resealable strip helps you to keep any moisture out of the tablets. They are so simple to use just pop one into the dispenser where you would usually add your powder and turn the machine on as normal, and leave it to work it's magic.
I was so impressed with how these tablets cleaned the first time I used them, not only with the way the dishes came out looking, but also the dishwasher itself was super sparkling inside, the dishes and the dishwasher were streak free, and shining and had a pleasant light lemon smell to them. The cleanliness was perhaps from the added rinse add in these tablets, something that you don't get with normal powder. Another great thing about using these tablets over the powder is that they seem to dissolve really well so you are not left with a whole lot of gunky powder in the dispenser at the end of each wash, something that always bugs me!
All in all a great product, that is a bit more costly, but in my opinion worth it, especially after having to buy dishwasher cleaners and rinse aids as well as powder, where as the tablets are all in one and leave your dishes a while lot cleaner. Being with how very little I use my dishwasher I can totally justify the price!
The first time I used these tablets I was blown away at how clean my dishwasher was inside, it was literally sparkling. The dishes where also clean but it was the dishwasher itself that I could not get over. We have always used tablets or powder in our dishwasher and as it was a natural brand I don't feel it was doing as good as job as it should of and until I used the Finish Powerball I did not realise how true that feeling was.
I prefer to use this brand of dishwashing tablets over all the others but I have to be honest the price can be a bit of a put off so whenever there is a sale I always stock up on them. I find them extremely easy to use, you don't need to unwrap them you just pop them in the powder gadget and your done. So simple I never have any residue left over and the smell is not over powering.
I find I very rarely have a dirty dish that needs to be re-washed and it cleans pots and pans also without a worry. Truely these tablets are such a small miracle. Having washed dishes for years I love the fact I can stack the dishwasher so quickly, put a tablet in and walk away until the next morning when I have to unstack it all. Dishes are no longer a chore and it makes life so simple.
We usually use powder in our dishwasher as, in our experience, the tablets are much more expensive. The idea of tablets which have everything contained in them to give the dishes is quite appealing though. We do often find that the powder gets stuck in the dispenser and we are left with a solid mass of powder to get rid of. We were interested to see if the tablets would work better.
When Miss three saw the packet, her first reaction was "Mummy Lollies". That is a bit of a concern as they are bright and attractive and I would hate the thought of her biting into one as if it were a lolly.
The first wash I put through with the Finish Powerball tablets, produced a very good wash. The glasses looked so clean and the product lived up to the claim "fights spots & watermarks for a dazzling shine". I was very impressed with the outcome. I would even go as far as to say that it was the best wash I have ever had in a dishwasher.
After going through the full pack, I found that half of the tablets did a great job. The other half gave us the same issue as we have had with the powder. We were stuck with a semi-disolved mass to clear out. In fact, we found ourselves putting the dish washer through a second cycle on most occasions as most of the active ingredients were still in the dispenser! This didn't work out very economical on power, water or time. To be fair, I should mention the brand and type of dishwasher I am using in case that has any impact on the way the tablet has worked for us. We have a Simpson EZISet 850. For interest, there is a label on the door saying that it recommended Finish to be used in it!
The tablets work out at just over a dollar per unit. I think this is quite expensive per wash. I find that the powder gives a lot more washes for the same sort of price. In fact, the Ecostore power I have been using recently gives 51 washers for around $9. That is five times the amount that I would get out of the Finish Powerball pack. The powder doesn't do as good a job and it doesn't include the rinse aid, but the price will win for me.
