American Horror Story: Freak Show begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida.
The year is 1952. A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike.
This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience.

I had such high hopes for the forth instalment of American Horror Story. Leading up to the premiere I had heard how scary it was going to be and that the Clown was the thing that nightmares were made of. Their was even an article saying they were concerned his appearance could cause Heart Attacks in the elderly. I had read this was the best yet and it was a must see.
To be honest I had mixed feelings about the series. I found it boring in places, exciting in others. Nothing was taboo and no one was safe. I loved how main characters were killed and thrown to the side without a care in the world. As for the Clown, everytime I saw him I thought 'maybe if he washed his outfit he would not look so dirty' his face did not effect me at all. It was obvious he was sad and trying to find his place in the world all he wanted to do was entertain.
Now I was more scared of Dandy Mott and his wack job of a mother. A spoilt child who got everything that he wanted. With money no object he could get away with murder 'literally'. When he teamed up with the Clown I found his character terrifying. He seemed like such a gentleman but underneath he was a psychopath. Also with Elsas need for fame so great she could not see how evil Spalding was.
I was near tears when they killed Ma Petit. She was so sweet and innocent and so doll like. The characters where fantastic. I am so glad they used actual 'freaks' unstead of just applying make-up. Although it did happen with some of the casts regulars. Another thing I applaud AHS is they bring the same cast back each season. Its great watching the same people play a different role. Where as some do not return as in Dylan McDermott most have been with the story since season one.
One of my favourite scenes this season is where Jessica Lange sang Gods and Monsters. Her singing was spot on and the way the 'freaks' played the instruments was fantastic. I have watched the youtube clip so many times. I loved the green ooze/smoke as the Freaks folk law states you should never perform on Halloween or Mordrake will come and take vengenance by taking a sole. It does have to be said the rest of her singing was just terrible.
It is fair to say I really did enjoy this season. It had so many shocking moments where I enhaled and could not beleive what I had just witnessed. Still, did not have the same suspense as the first one - it is still a really good series, even if it did lag at times. Way better then seasons two and three.
I've watched the previous three seasons and really enjoyed them so kept a keen eye out for any information about season four and what might be involved in it, slowly little tidbits were shown on their facebook page and it was great fun to see the regulars in it again and some of the cast from Coven as well and what their new chaacters were to be. What was particularly good about this film is that some of the 'freaks' are physically like that in real life, no faking and just goes to show that you don't have to be physically 'perfect' to be a great actor.
This is a show that isn't afraid to up the death count and it doesn't even take long before it starts to happen, though I was utterly miserable at the death of one of our characters as I really did like her and so it was so sad when she died. The main horror tease of the show was the clown and he really is a clown that would give you nightmares and you would NOT want him at your birthday party, but the realy horror of a character is Dandy and it is even more scary that people like him really do exist. All the actors do a FAB job, I mean Naomi Grossman does a supurb job of Pepper and boy oh boy was Pepper's a sad story (love the linking of it to Asylum) and fully believable.
I really enjoyed this, more than the last season, and I cannot wait to see the next season!
