For a movie that is seventy five years, The Wizard of Oz has continued to do a great job of entertaining and inspiring movie goers since day one. There have been many adaptations the novel but this one is still the most popular and with great musical numbers, great actors and animation, special effects that have stood the test of time rather well, this is still a good family movie today. I always get a thrill when we have the transition from black and white to full color. This movie is so well done and so popular that it still prevails in pop culture today with references made to it often.
The songs are wonderful, I always find myself singing along to with the songs time after time, when I was younger I even had to learn "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" to sing at an old folks home. I didn't realize until I was older that those playing the companions were those living and working on the farm with Dorothy, though it was always easy to see that the evil witch was the woman who wanted to take Toto away was one and the same. This is a great movie that I still enjoy today and I can't wait to watch it with my kids.
