Product reviews...
The packaging is ok but I believe should be upside down to make it easier to use especially in the shower or when dealing with little ones. The hole in it is way to big and for the price of it you can't afford for the bottle to be lying on it's side or where little's can reach. Perhaps to combat both problems the maker could put in one of those seals that only lets the product out when squeezed. Art work and information wise I was impressed but is kid splash like a product name or a scent?
Speaking of the scent, what is that? It smells like someone has melted down those cheap sherbet red lolly's and put that in it. My daughter who is lactose intolerant has reacted the past couple of times we used it on her so we will not be trying a third time.
I liked the fact that it bubbled up well but what causes it to do this? I am kind of scared of why I need to be told to "rinse well before leaving the shower". I am happy though that it states it is septic tank and grey water safe. I washed my hair with it even though it says body wash and really didn't like the feeling I was left with, even on my body.
Was thrilled to see a natural based product to be able to try for my kids. My kids are really fussy as to what they use as they are worried about it getting into their eyes and hurting them. When the product arrived it had simple but effective labeling. It's clearly stated that it's plant based and sls. sles , paraben FREE so you know it has to be good for the little ones.
So bath time came and I thought would give it a try myself before trying on my kids, the smell is somewhat unusual, really hard to grasp what it actually smells like, but perfectly tolerable. We use a bath sponge so I must say I didn't use recommended amount on bottle, would have been about half of what it said and it lathered up really well, was more than enough to clean the body.
Next test the kids, they were a bit worried about getting it in their eyes, but with some encouragement they lathered up and loved it. Even the smell wasn't a concern to them. It leaves the skin feeling clean and refreshed and you know that no harmful items are getting into their body. I just have to remember to not leave it laying around it or gets used by my kids as hand wash as well, which it works fine as.
So overall great product for the little ones that you know is safe to use.
Always keen to give new products a go so even though my family does not normally use body wash I thought it was worth a go. We would normally use earthwise soap bar and never had an skin reactions so was not expecting to get any with a body wash.
I didn't know what to expect in the sense of smell with a name like kids splash. It was a very unusual smell - a bit like lollies...maybe??? My 3 1/2 yr old son immediately told me it smelt funny and was reluctant to use it until he saw me use it on his little brother. Unfortunately he only used this once as his skin did react to it. I don't know whether it was because two boys worth of bodywash was in the bath water so did not get a real chance to wash it off completely. Maybe different if used in the shower?? I used this and also found the skin to be a bit itchy. Baby however had no signs of reaction.
I found that the bottle was not designed very well - for a mum trying to bath her child or a child trying to wash himself. You needed to tip bottle (in which it then came out really fast into a little hand) and then had to juggle to get the lid closed. I would prefer a bottle that was already upside down and also had a smaller dispenser hole. Having a hook would make it even easier again.
I will be reluctant to purchase this product (or those similar) until there is a new designed bottle. I will continue to use Earthwise soap bar until then.
Since I first started reviewing Earthwise Products I have become a complete convert. We now use only Earthwise body wash and I find the normal body wash range so effective that it completely meets our needs in terms of bubble power etc in the bath. I was interested to see how this would compare.
My girls immediately liked the bottle especially Miss Three so I knew that chances were this bottle wasn't going to last long if left unattended. We have used it in the shower and in the bath and it has been great for both. I am very wary however that the instructions do say to rinse thoroughly so we have to make sure everyone has a separate rinse off after the bath. I have found myself worried as to what the reaction will be the nights that I have just towel dried and not ensured the kids were thoroughly rinsed. They seem to have been fine though with no adverse reaction.
This does bubble up well though no better than the usual Earthwise body wash. I do prefer the smells of the normal body washes that we use over the Kids Splash but the smell is fine and does make me just want to inhale the kids as I dry them! I do have to be careful with body wash around Miss Three as she does like to empty out a whole bottle when my back is turned and at the cost it can make for an expensive bath time. With this bottle it does seem to come out fast and even when I have used it myself in the shower and have just wanted to use a small amount it is very difficult to do that. I would I think prefer a pump bottle as that would help reduce the amount used.
Overall I think this is a good product but I think I will still stick to the other Earthwise products that I already use. If I had a child that needed bribery to wash and waving a bottle of Splash time in front of them got them to wash then definitely this is a go to item. I am going to have to check if the other "adult" body washes recommend rinsing off thoroughly but to date no one has had any adverse reactions. I can definitely recommend this as a product that will produce lots of bubbles and with that lots of laughter and a good clean so definitely worth trying. If you haven't tried Earthwise yet then this is a great product to try with your youngsters over summer as they pretend to be whales in the bath.
We have been using Earthwise baby range for about a year now on our son who is nearly 3 and absolutely love it for his shower routine as he has incredibly sensitive skin. So when this came out for review I was excited to try it to see if it was the same gentle effect on his skin. Very soon he will start not wanting to use baby products and tell me he is a big boy so it is good to know there are products aimed at older children now which we can follow on to.
The first thing I will say about this body wash is it smells amazing. The bottle says it is jungle fruits fragrance but I felt it smelt like a fruity bubblegum, it is very sweet smelling and leaves the kids smelling very clean and fresh when they hop out of the shower. My 12 year old has been using it too as in her words it smells amazeabubbles. I will admit I also had to try some out when I had my shower when it arrived just for testing purposes ;)
We used it as per directions in the shower making a lather with the body wash and water on a wash cloth and it bubbles up really nicely leaving a great lather that you can smoother over the skin so a little but really does go a long way you only need a small squeeze on the wash cloth and then you can get the whole wash cloth bubbled up quite nicely. Because it created so much of a lather I also tested it out in the bath and although it is not a bubble bath you could quite easily use it as one as it still creates a lot of bubbles which is heaps of fun with toddlers.
We have been using this for my son now for 4 days and his skin has been fine he has had no flare up's of eczema or itchy skin after showering so we have now found another product that we can use for his shower routine which is great. We even used some on his face, which we normally only use pure water and he didn't suffer from any irritation. Being a plant based product I think makes it gentle enough to use on his delicate skin where other products will leave him with a nasty rash.
I was lucky enough to be given some of this body wash to review and I was keen to try it out. So keen in fact, that I first tried it myself before I passed it onto my 6 year old... (it is a kids body wash!)
I noticed immediately that it had a bit of a smell to it - which I decided reminded me of lollies. (With the name Earth Splash, I wasn't really sure what sort of smell to expect) I did notice that the smell completely disappeared once it was on my skin though (which I was glad about as I didn't really want to smell like lollies all day!).
I then passed it onto my 6 year old to try. She prefers to shower rather than have baths so we are reviewing it as a shower product. She was keen to try it and took a sniff and immediately recoiled - but it was probably just an initial reaction as she then happily put it on her skin. I did notice that the hole is quite big and the product comes out quite fast... I can see the bottle being used up very quickly, which makes it not that cost effective.
I was pleased however that her (slightly) sensitive skin doesn't seem to reacting to it at all - I must admit I do feel safe in this regards with the Earthwise products which I do like using.
I haven't actually tried the product in the bath, but for interests sake, I swished some around in a basin or water and was pleasantly surprised to find it froths up nicely like bubble bath would. However the instructions do say to rinse completely from the skin after using it, so it would mean rinsing after bathing which may not be so practical. But apart from this, I can see it as a great bubble bath option for sensitive skin.
If your kids like using body washes, this is certainly a nice one, with little residual smell being left on the body, and good for sensitive skin. But with the speed this comes out of the bottle, I can see this being quite an expensive alternative to the soap we normally use, but hopefully this information helps if you are looking at purchasing some.
