This evening I escaped to Heartside Bay again and enjoyed being there. These books are so easy to read and make for a good evenings entertainment. Full of drama and real life (well for teens anyway) events they have something interesting on every page, I haven't found myself getting bored with the storyline at all. I am yet to read book 4 so was odd reading book 5 without reading this as so much must of happened in the last book with the death of Ryan and Eve coming out to her friends.
I soon caught up but I will be going back and reading book 4 at some point when I can get my hands on a copy. I found the whole Eve being lesbian quite a shock and the school finding out was something she really struggled with so we even see the Ice Queen herself start to melt so it was quite refreshing seeing a softer more vulnerable side of Eve after her always being so cold and confident. She is a lot closer to the other girls now and needs them in a way she never needed them before so we see stronger friendships develop.
We go back to Polly's story in this book which was quite nice I have been enjoying Polly's story and have been wanting to find out what happens with her and Ollie, they seem right for each other not that Polly think so she always tries to fit in but it is the real her that Ollie loves. The title of the book was quite apt Never a Perfect Moment, and they never could quite find the perfect moment. So super frustrating to read when you just wanted them to finally have that first kiss, hang in there it comes and it is perfect just the way Polly wanted.
I was also happy to see Josh back in the storyline and perhaps something developing with him and Lila, I have wanted them to get together since the beginning so I really do hope that does go somewhere. Will have to wait and find out in the next book but for now things are looking hopeful. Things aren't easy for Lila at the moment she blames herself for Josh's death and the guilt is making her do things that are a little stupid so I hope she sorts herself out soon, Josh may be just the thing she needs to snap out of it.
Can't wait for the next edition of this series which I hope comes soon it is the kind of series where you finish reading one book and want to start reading the next straight away, they flow so beautifully from one book to the next and I really feel like I am getting familiar with the group from Heartside Bay now and want to keep reading about their lives.
The fifth book in the series and by far the most interesting. This book centres around Polly again and deals with the aftermath of Ryan's death. The school and town are in mourning and it is rather depressing. Having dealt with teen suicide before it effects everyone so personally and differently. Granted it wasn't 'really' a suicide but it was still a teen death where someone was taken way to soon.
A great deal of this book is dealing with emotions and death and how you are suppose to feel knowing that Ryan will never feel or experience life again. I found it was so tastefully dealt with. During the grieving process rumours also get out about Eve being gay and that Eves dad is having financial difficulties with the shopping mall. Questions are asked where the money came from to fund the luxurious parties. The point that the town is split between the haves and the haves not is also starting to be addressed.
In the midst of all this confusion Ollie and Polly try to have there first date. I have to admit it was rather frustrating right up to the last couple of chapters before it all clicked into place (finally) and it all works out beautifully. Its the sort of ending you just want to grab the next book and never put it down. Like the previous books this is a very easy fast paced book. The chapter are nice and short and there is no real complication to the book. Great series that everyone young and old will enjoy. A fantastic writer that deals with everyday real issues.

His explanation of the role of natural selection in driving the evolution of life on earth depended on steady variation of living things over time - but he was unable to explain how this variation occurred.
