Working as an Early childhood teacher te reo is a big part of my daily life. I know the basics and I'm always looking at ways of improving my knowledge the best way for me to do this is through books and music. I'm really enjoying all the books lately that are being released in both English and Te reo, I have read the book Go Home Flash before so when I saw a Maori version I was very keen to give it a read.
E Hoki Flash is a perfect book to read in Maori with young children, it has bright engaging pictures throughout the story and simple clear sentences. The children I was reading it with quickly picked up E Hoki Flash and whenever we got to a page where someone was pointing a finger they quickly said E Hoki Flash. It was great to see a book engaging the children and encouraging their Te reo.
E Hoki Flash contains a lot of common words so it's easy for even beginners in Te reo to be able to pick up and read. For any uncommon words there's a glossary on the back which I found really helpful there's nothing worse than not quite being sure what the story is telling you. I would recommend E Hoki Flash to anyone who wants to widen their knowledge of Te reo.
