My children are always super excited when a KIWIreviews parcel arrives. And I love it when hidden in the box is a little something for one or all of them, that they did not know was coming. I love the joy and the smiles, and I especially love the appreciation they have, and how thankful they are being part of a Kr family.
So needless to say they were stoked to find the Popshotz double shotz set in the box of goodies, and there was no time for anyone (adult wise) to get a look in. The minute they unpacked the box my two youngest grabbed, and were gone. Further investigation and I found they had set up the hallway ready for play. They had dragged the small stool to one end to set up their cans, and made a line the other end where they were to sit. Nice job guys!
So they played happily with this together for 30mins, then my boy wondered off and my girl played happily on her own for a further half hr or more. I love the simplicity of it. I especially love that no batteries are needed, there is no obnoxious noise, and it is super super kid friendly! like so kid friendly it is actually crazy lol.
I have a child with developmental delays, so the fact that pretty much the entire set is foam or similar soft materials is excellent. The guns work using air, and its as simple as squeezing the handle to make the foam darts come out. which means that, unless he tries to shoot someone in the eyes, this is possibly one of the most safest toys I could let him play with, and so safe I can actually let him play unsupervised. This is not the case with very many other toys.
I gave the popshotaz a go too, it takes a bit of practice to get the darts to shoot in a straight line and not off to the side. Its all in how you squeeze the handle as to which way the darts will go. Needless to say, I had my daughter in fits when it was some 5 or so shots before I actually finally hit a can, all the while shes hitting cans with every shot. Its amazing how quickly kids pick things up really.
I love this toy. I love the safety aspect of it. I think it is a bit pricey for what it is, which means by scores are possibly slightly lower than what it deserves, however it is fantastic value for money, and as a result I can say that it has been played with and enjoyed by those who the age groups of 3-10yrs, 11-20yrs and 30-40yrs lol Would make a great gift this xmas too.
My husband is right into Nerf Guns at the moment and is pressuring me to let our five year old daughter get one. I am extremely hesitant about it and thought reviewing something like this would put my mind at ease and would allow me to see how responsible she really is.
I have to admit this has brought a lot of joy to the family. We have had gun wars most nights before bedtime and is a great incentive for them to hurry up and not procrastinate. The first time I used them, embarrassing to say I could not figure out how to shoot them because they do not have a trigger. You feed the darts into the gun and I had pressed them into far so no air was able to circulate around them. My husband got me to re-feed it and you only push the dart as far as the rim then you hold the handle and squeeze. The harder the squeeze the faster it goes.
Once you know how to use the gun they really are simple to use. Our three year old is loving firing the gun at the targets that came with it. The first night we would take turns with the two guns and the next night the Nerf Gun wars began. My five year old daughter and husband used Nerf guns and my three year old and I used the Double Shotz. There are ten targets that come with the pack and we all took turns firing. First thing I have to say the accuracy on these things is appalling. It comes with an attachable target finder thing which is useless you could aim to the left and the gun will shot to the right, so really waste of time using. Basically you aim and pray that it goes somewhere close to where you want it to go.
Because my husband is rather good with his gun he was made to sit away from the target and to the side of it. The girls and myself sit right in front of the targets and we all take turns. Bragging time I have managed to hit down all of the targets and the girls have managed to hit a couple. On a personal note it is beautiful to watch my three year old clapping and encouraging everyone and getting excited for them when they just about hit the targets. It has been a great family sport. We are all loving the competition and the guns are just so much fun to play with.
I think the targets are definitely what makes this gun set fun. They can be used for other activities as well. We now have them spread out around the room with various other items and we all shoot like crazy. Laughter and excitement have us all buzzing and while it takes the girls a while to cool down at the end of the night it has definitely been worth it. Great fun for all ages - but if you want something with accuracy pass on this.
My 3 year old absolutely loves Nerf guns as a lot of young boys do so I was really keen to get my hands ona review set of these guns through KIWIreviews to give them a go. This set looked like the one that was most up our alley with a set of two guns one for each child and targets to shoot at. I also liked that you got so many bullets as that is one thing we always seem to lose with sets like these.
Now I wasn't overly sold on this as a set as to shoot the bullets at the targets or into the air of wherever you choose you have to squeeze the handle of the gun. It is so easy to do even my three year old can do it with ease, but I found we couldn't squeeze it hard enough to give a high pressure shoot. The bullets would almost just fall out and drop to the ground than shoot out. Whereas my partner with a stronger grip could get them to shoot out with more force than us.
I didn't see we could get them to shoot as far a distance as the packet suggested but we still had lots of fun at short range shooting at the target or even just into the air. The great thing s my 3 year old can do this all by himself with the Nerf guns you generally have a pull back system to load the bullet before you can pull the trigger that is still a little hard for him so he brings to me everytime he needs to reload. With this system he can load and shoot to his hearts content so that brought the score up in my eyes that they are very safe and child friendly.
I would love to see a lot more high force action but as a young child's toy they are lots of fun and super easy to use. Still trying to get my partner to teach me how he gets them to come out so fast but that is a work in progress.
