We have only ever caught the odd episode of Mike the Knight on Disney Junior at friends houses we don't have sky tv so have had no other way to watch it. The few times we have watched it master two has really enjoyed it especially the two cheeky dragons. We were very excited to receive a DVD to review as now we can watch it again and again at home.
Mike is a knight in training so he has to learn all the ways of being a knight. His motto is be a knight and do it right although often at first he does not do it right at all which always brings about good lessons. In one of the episodes Mike learns that being brave can be something really small it doesn't have to be wrestling monsters although to begin with he doesn't think that rescuing a frog from a dark well or retrieving a kite from a tall tree is very brave he soon realises that these too are very brave tasks.
This is something I really like about this Mike the Knight series is that they all have nice little messages or lessons to be learnt as Mike is just learning too and has to make mistakes along the way to be able to learn how to do it right. As my boy grows older these are things we can discuss like today I said to him your brave like Mike the Knight when you don't get scared of the egg beater so definitely good starting points for parents to be able to discuss life lessons with their children.
Apparently this also appeals to older children as my 12 year old took it to bed tonight to watch before she went to sleep so it has been really well received by both children in my house. Big thanks to Roadshow N Z and KIWIreviews for the opportunity to review this cute little DVD.
