Product reviews...
Avalanche coffee is a good quick coffee alternative to take it in your bag to have when at work, meetings etc when the only alternative is cheap instant coffee, which I will not drink. A bit weaker than I would normally make myself in my machine but a good alternative to have with you as it is a nice and easy rip to open packet.
The Avalanche coffee is the middle range price range and because of this I would buy it again as the alternative when out and about. When compared to other ones I found this to be better in flavour and slightly stronger and much easier to open than some of the other brands available. The Avalanche coffee packaging does sound out amongst others on the shelf due to brightness of the package.
As I do not normally have sugar in my coffee I did find the avalanche coffee is sweetener than I would normally make myself at home. I would buy Avalanche coffee again as it is a great back up coffee and nice and small to carry in my bag for when out and about and so much better than cheap instant coffee. I will try other Avalanche coffee flavours in the future.
I am a fan of coffee and although a real coffee is my favourite I find sachet coffee the next best thing. I love the convenience of throwing a sachet into my bag so that I can drink a decent coffee when at work or at my parents (not a fan of the cheap instant stuff).
I was keen to try as find that other brands do not always meet my expectations and enjoy having a brand that might possibly be on special when others are not (I only ever buy coffee on special). I make my sachet coffee with water and then add a little extra milk or cold water to cool it down. I found that you had to be real careful in the way you mixed this sachet, as otherwise you get extra stuck to the sides.
This coffee was not as strong as I would have hoped it would be and feel that Avalanche could make this standard one a little stronger (or have a strong one available too). Because it was not so strong I also found it quite sweet (I do not normally have sugar in coffee so like to have the option).
I love the simple clean line packaging and found that these sachets ripped open easily.
It is not a coffee that I will definitely not buy but I would like to look to see if I could get one that was stronger or without sugar.
I brought a box of these as they were on special at the supermarket. We were heading away for a busy weekend snow boarding so I knew the likely hood of getting my cafe coffee fix was out of reach this time around. I tried an avalanche duo coffee before and it blew my mind so was keen to try more of the avalanche range.
I made this up as I normally do with boiling hot water and a teeny bit of cold so it was just perfect to drink straight away,no sugar as I find that ruins a decent coffee! The aroma was refreshing when I mixed it together it was quite noticeable but not as strong as normal coffee. I am quite hesitant on any instant coffee as I really love my cafe style ones. BUT this was an exception. It was really nice, not too overpowering and didn't taste like other instant coffees. Had a nice kick to it, was smooth and the contents of the sachet didn't sit at the top in clumps like other brands.
I really enjoyed this coffee, it went down a treat with breakfast on the go on the way up to the ski field. I even threw a few in my snack bag and filled my thermos with hot water so that I could drink these during my "break times" when my legs needed a rest and my batteries a recharge. All in all this was another great type of coffee from Avalanche and would definately be something I would buy again without hesitation. Thumbs up Avalanche
I've been a fan of Avalanche's Caramel and Vanilla flavoured coffees for quite a while now, but I've never bothered to actually try one of their "straight" coffee flavours before now as I'm not normally a fan of instant coffees. Now is as good as time as any though to give them a whirl, and see if Avalanche are possibly the exception (their flavoured coffees certainly are!).
Making up the first "Flat White" coffee the same way I make all of my coffees, with milk and 2 sugar (yes, I know it already has milk powder in it, but I always add milk anyway, even with the Caramel and Vanilla ones), the first thing I noticed was how subtle the aroma was. I'm used to coffees, whether they be instant or your fancy ground/filtered coffees from the cafes, reaching up and smacking you in the face with that usually rich coffee scent. Enough to start waking up the senses before you even take a sip. This one DIDN'T! You almost had to actually focus and search for that coffee smell... almost. It's subtle, but it IS there. Now I don't necessarily find this to be a bad thing, as I'm not actually a big coffee drinker in general (at least not when it comes to your standard "coffee flavoured" coffees anyway... I can happily drink the Caramel and Vanilla ones all day!), due to not really enjoying the flavour of coffee. I drink it more for the caffiene hit (very handy when you regularly work into the small hours!), as I find most other caffienated drinks too sweet.
The first sip proved that the flavour matched the scent, with just a gentle hint of the taste of coffee. Certainly enough to let you know you're actually drinking coffee, but not enough that it overpowers your tastebuds like I find most other brands do. It was smooth and creamy though, with no sign of that sharp bitter aftertaste that a lot of instant coffees leave in your mouth. Definitely a rather enjoyable drink! And none of that rather unpleasant strong coffee breath either. Starting to think that maybe, just maybe, I'd found a brand of coffee I could enjoy on a more regular basis, I decided to make myself a second mugful a bit later, to see if it passed one other important test for me.
I have found, with pretty much all other instant coffees (and even some of the other types), that my stomach tends not to agree very happily to more than one cup in a day. I won't go into detail, other than to say it gets extremely uncomfortable and it's one of the main reasons I'm not a big coffee drinker. So I was very curious to see if Avalanche's Flat White would create the same issue. Second cup made, and enjoyed... now it was a matter of waiting. Absolutely NO issues! This coffee is as gentle on the stomach as it is on the nose and tastebuds! It's even reasonably gentle on the wallet too... a box of 10 sachets for the price you'd normally pay to head out to a noisy cafe in the cold winter wind and rain to enjoy just ONE overpriced coffee.
Affordable, enjoyable, and easy on the stomach... I've found my regular coffee!

Light damages milk, and independant studies have shown it. Like that published in the Journal of Dairy Science which has shown milk can start to lose vitamin A in as little as 2 hours of continuous light exposure, and research supported by Cornell University which has shown that light exposure can degrade vitamins B2 and A in milk too.
Both of which are essential, vitamin A supporting healthy eyesight and our immune system, and ... more...
