The Princess Bride product reviews

The Princess Bride is a 1987 American romantic comedy adventure film directed by Rob Reiner, based on the 1973 novel of the same name by William Goldman. Critically acclaimed and equally loved by adults & children!

The Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright Penn) is saddened by the disappearance of her true-love Westley (Cary Elwes), and finds that she now has no choice but to become engaged to the evil Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon). But Westley soon arrives back on the scene and, along with his mismatched band of adventurers, sets off on a daring mission to rescue his beloved. The film also stars Mandy Patinkin as a Spanish cavalier and Billy Crystal as a crazy magician.

It wasn't until I was 20 that I finally saw The Princess Bride, everyone who brought it up loved the movie and we finally watched it when my cousin was living with us and owned it on DVD.

Whilst I didn't feel that this was simply the best movie ever made!!!!! I can still see why it is so loved, it is a fun tale and has some great moments. If you want a nice adventure with romance, some great fight scenes, clever tricks and some great laughs then this is a good all-rounder movie. When I first watched it, my son was to young to really enjoy it, but we did.

This year I managed to buy it on DVD for the family. We played it one night when having a play date. With an age range from three adults to a fourteen, six, five, four, three and two year old it was interesting to see who watched the entire film. We adults enjoyed it as did the fourteen year old. The six, four, three and two year olds all stayed and watched the whole film but the five year old fidgeted quite a bit, but otherwise it was a movie enjoyed by us all.

This is a fun movie and one that has lasted the test of time well and will continue to do so.
