Organic Apple sparkling wine. This lends itself to a scrumptious cider with a refined apple taste.

When these amazing bottles of Lothlorien wine came up for review on KIWIreviews I was very keen to get involved in reviewing. I had tried the Feijoa variety in the past and loved it so decided to apply to try the apple. I was quite intrigued by the description on the website that drew similarities to apple cider as I do enjoy a cold apple cider in the summer months at barbeques and family gatherings.
When the bottle arrived I put it straight in the fridge to chill, I like sparkling wine to be icy cold before I drink it so wanted to give it a good amount of time to chill before the evening came about. It came on a good day as I was going to the in laws for dinner so decided to take it with me to the dinner to share with my mother in law. It was a birthday celebration so a good sparkling wine seemed like a great addition!!
When we first arrived we were given a glass of red wine each. I am not as much of a fan of red wine as I find it quite bitter and dry. I personally prefer sweeter varities of white wine. Once the red wine was gone I poured us each a glass of this Lothlorien Apple, the change was such a refreshing difference. I smelt the wine in my glass and could straight away pick out the smell of apple. It smelt quite like a sparkling apple that you get at Christmas so I could tell I was going to like it. On first sip I got the crisp sweet notes of the apple which I really enjoyed.
I could quite easily sip on this over the course of the evening if I had not shared the bottle with others. For me it had the right amount of sweetness it wasn't sickly sweet and still had the dry after taste that wine has. Although I didn't have to sip anywhere near as slowly as I had to sip the very dry red wine. My mother in law thought this was too sweet but I guess that shows a difference in taste preferences. I would definitely buy it again and at $16 a bottle it is an affordable bottle too.

Bursting with blackcurrants and raspberries, Kopparberg Mixed Fruit Cider spoils you. Rich and indulgent with an effervescent energy, its best served cold over mountains of ice.
