Class Pets (Missy's Super Duper Royal Deluxe #2) product reviews

Missy has BIG plans for the class pet . . .well, for three of them! She plans to have a fashion show, create a circus, and even put the pets in their very own parade. But a mean new girl in class, Tiffany, says she's taking the pets home with her instead.

Missy enlists the help of her trusty friend, Oscar, to come up with a stellar plan. Just like with everything else, Missy takes the class pets home the only way she knows how - the super duper royal deluxe way!

This is the second book in this humorous, full-colour early chapter book series

Immediately I got this book out Miss Six had whipped it away to read. She loved it! She told me that she really enjoyed all the pictures and she liked how the story was about pets. The pictures are indeed fantastic and every page is filled with colourful pictures. There is a lot to look at and Miss Six really enjoys this book.

The plot is very simple with the story's main character Melisa (Missy) wanting to take home the class pets Eenie-Meenie, Miney and Moe for the holidays. Her plan is thwarted by the new kid Tiffany who also wants to take them home and gets first choice. The story revolves around Missy firstly convincing her mum to let her have the pets and then trying to convince Tiffany not to have them. She finally succeeds at the end but on the way there are lots of laughs. This is almost a comic book style but for girls with lots of speech and thought bubbles.

I really loved both the story and the way it was illustrated. My Miss Six really enjoyed it also and this seems a good step up from the basic readers we have been reading of late. I think the illustrations really help with the story comprehension and Miss Six was able to cope with the smaller text in this book because of the addition of the comic style illustrations.

I would definitely recommend this especially if you need a break from stories about magical animals and fairies!
