Hold on Tight product reviews

What would happen if the wind blew you away? Hold on Tight by Sara Acton is a beautifully written story about the power of a child's imagination.

A little girl, her teddy and her Mum are taking a walk on a lovely, but somewhat windy autumn day

"Hold on tight to my hand today.
You wouldn't want to blow away."

What if she doesn't hold on tight?

This is a lovely book colour illustrated in watercolours. It is definitely a whimsical story and my little misses enjoyed reading it with me. We were able to have some lovely discussions about what might happen if you were blown away and I liked the way that the story showed clearly how literally children can take what we say! I liked the watercolour style of illustration which went nicely with the story and certainly made it feel very whimsical.

The illustrations are lovely but to be honest for the limited amount of words and the illustrations I wouldn't pay $21 for this book. I wouldn't feel like I had value for money. There probably isn't enough in this book to keep my littlies very entertained unlike some picture books which can have you looking at one page for ages. So I guess this is a lovely book but time will tell if it is one that my girls want to take it off the book shelf frequently.

This was such a charming story that shows how much imagination children can have! The young girl in the story imagines the things that could happen if she ws blown away in the wind. She thinks of all the fun adventures she would have and all the things she could see and lastly thinks of the scary things that could happen so decides that it is indeed a good idea to hold on tight to Mum's hand today as she wouldn't want to blow away (well for today at least!).

I really enjoyed this sweet rhyming story that takes us on an adventure in a child's imaginative world. The pictures are simply airy drawings that really give the impression of a windy day and highlight the things the young girl imagined could happen. I liked how Teddy went on all the adventures with her, my son has a cuddly that he takes everywhere and I think when he is older him and cuddly (Bertie) will go on many adventures using imagination.

This book would be great in a teaching setting to open up discussions about imagination and talks about where the children might go if they were blown away in the wind. I think it is a fabulous book!
