Sometimes 2 minute noodles for lunch can get a bit boring! But when I need something super quick this tends to be what I have. One day I decided I needed to find something a little bit different for a change, yet I still needed it to be quick and easy to prepare and eat as I only get 30minutes for lunch at work. After scanning the shelves at my local supermarket I came across the Watties Ready to Serve Prepacked Meals and decided to give the Tomato and Basil Tortellini a try, I love pasta so I was certain I would like this.
So the next day at work I decided to put it to the test, after pouring the pasta into a bowl I placed it into the microwave and heated it for 2 minutes, the 2 minutes was perfect it was piping hot and heated through evenly, no hot spots! The pasta was cheesy and I could definitely get a clear taste of all the types of cheeses that were used tasty, blue vein and parmesan, the texture of the pasta was perfect and just how I like it. The tomato and basil sauce was delicious and tasted fresh, it had the perfect balance of tomatoes with just the right hint of basil throughout.
For $4.39 I will definitely keep buying this yummy lunchtime option, definitely cheaper and healthier than it is to go out and buy lunch each day. The serving side is just right and it takes no time at all prepare, probably even less time than it does to prepare a pack of noodles.
I've been loving trying these Watties Ready to Serve Tortellini pasta snacks for my lunches lately. I've tried almost every flavour available and this week, it was my turn to try the Tomato and Basil flavour. I was a little hesitate of this flavour because the Tomato and Bacon flavour was quite spicy hot. Because of the heat, I couldn't taste the tomato flavour and didn't get as much enjoyment from the meal compared to the other flavours I have tried.
This Tomato and Basil flavour pouch is quite a different taste, thankfully. I opened the pouch in the lunchroom. The tomato aroma was great. I heated this in the microwave for 2 minutes and let it cool. Then I served it wrapped up in a Farah's Garden Spinach Wrap. The taste was amazing. The pasta was cheesy, but I didn't get a hint of blue. Then the tomato and basil sauce was just delicious. I don't really like things like tomato soup, and heavy tomato flavours. So the sauce on this really surprised me.
This is a flavour I would definitely buy again. The taste was fantastic. The fresh foil keeps the meal fresh, and is easy to open. The meal itself is easy to prepare and to cook. Plus you can have this as a side for a main meal, or as a filling lunch. It's a win: win kind of product at a reasonable price.

A bursting, big flavour with a touch of chilli on the end. Use with Camembert or blue cheese on a platter, on the side with a curry or slapped on a sandwich. Use in canapes or as a dipping sauce for meatballs.
