Well this book is pretty cool. It came just as we were befriended by a hedgehog that visited our front door every day and was fed cat biscuits by Miss Two. We were immediately able to open up the book and have a big discussion about prickly things. Then Miss Five and Miss Six visited the zoo and had to write reports so I gave them the book to use and they were able to use the book instead of the computer to get their information. So within a week this book got used by all of us and I have found myself leafing through it in the evenings learning new facts.

This book is full of glossy pictures and has lots of interesting facts in easy to read boxes so the kids find it easy to read. It has a glossary in the back so you can look up words like cold blooded, amphibian etc. I would have liked the book to have an index as there is no contents or index page so to find anything you just have to leaf through and look. It would have been good to have more animals in it as well. Having said that its a pretty cool book and we have all enjoyed reading it so it has actually been a winner in our house!

I would recommend this as a great book for boys or girls who like to know facts about animals.

When I got my books from KIWIreviews and Scholastic to review, I showed my daughter. This book got the biggest gasp. She is totally animal crazy and even though she is only 6 and certainly couldn't read this all by herself, that doesn't matter. This has over 100 pages of full colour facts, and photos of amazing animals.

The book itself is a great size. Its nice and big, so easy to be able to see and read the fonts. I can hold it out and both kids can have a look at the double page spread layout per record breaking animal. There is a great contents page, and all the graphics are bright and eye catching. I thought it was probably a bit too busy for me, but my daughter found it really cool and it is the style of non-fiction books these days.

We have been reading this over the course of the week and we could easily re-visit it over and over again. I get her to pick three or four animals she wants to learn about and then we read the pages together. I love the look on her face when she learns something new, or something more about something she did know. I'm learning lots of new things too. There are so many amazing animals in the world!

Product image for Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?A big happy frog, a plump purple cat, a handsome blue horse, and a soft yellow duck-- all parade across the pages of this delightful book. Children will immediately respond to Eric Carle's flat, boldly coloured collages. Combined with Bill Martin's singsong text, they create unforgettable images of these endearing animals.
