Product reviews...
I do a lot of baking, especially baking of cupcakes and muffins more often than not these are baked to take either to work for morning tea shouts or to a friend or family members, for ages I seemed to not have any adequate storage solution for transporting these baked goods, meaning I would always resort to putting them on a plate and covering the top of them with a piece of glad wrap - not the most stable or safest mode of transport out there really! I had many a accidents through this mode of transport from icing all over the seats to squished up icing messes that were really not presentable or very welcoming to eat!
For Christmas last year my Mother-In-Law got me one of these cupcake/muffin carriers (she had seen many of my cupcake transporting casualties over the years). The compartment was really well designed with 2 separate trays to transport the cakes on, giving you the option to use either one or both of the trays at once. What's even handier is that one of the trays is actually a metal non-stick baking tray so if you are in a hurry you can transport the cakes straight from the oven without having to remove them from the tin! The lid locks on really easily and is pretty sturdy, being held in place by a clip on each of the sides. Having received this meant I obviously had to do some baking to try it out, which also doubled as a great way to get creative in the kitchen with the Christmas chocolates I had received!
After making my cupcakes on Boxing Day I iced them with buttercream icing which was quite high up on the cupcakes and then placed them into my carrier, I made sure to make 24 just to test out the effectiveness of this in full capacity! The trays fitted perfectly, and even with a generous amount of buttercream to the cupcakes they didn't touch or get squashed which was a relief to me! Driving 10 minutes down the road with the cupcake carrier in place in the car it didn't move at all and my cupcakes arrived free of damage YAY!
Who ever thought of this handy gadget in a genius, and why I haven't purchased this item earlier i'm honestly not sure! I have seen you can also purchase a cake carrier in a similar design so I plan to make sure I purchase one of them next time I stumble across one! To whose who love to bake and transport there baking around I thoroughly recommend buying one of these!
These cupcake holder/carriers are amazing and I love mine to bits....I wouldn't know what I would do if I didn't have them. The first one I received as a gift and the second one I bought because I was amazed with the first one that I needed to have another one.
They hold up to 24 good sized cupcakes or muffins and the bottom layer of the carrier is actually a metal cupcake baking tray and the top is a plastic holder that has has indents to hold 12 cupcakes. So basically I can use the baking tray to bake in and then use the same tray to transport the cupcakes....no fuss and cutting down on the time from baking to transporting the yummy cupcakes!
The plastic tray is made from a sturdy plastic as is the lid for the holder, and the clips that attach the lid to the metal baking tray seem to be well constructed as I have used my carriers a lot and have clipped and unclipped many times and they are still going strong. I like the clear lid as well so you can clearly see the yummy cupcakes inside the carrier.
I have seen them in a green colour and a red colour and both colours are striking and look good. Mine are both in green!! The trays are easy to clean...well the whole container is easy to clean, I wipe it over with a damp cloth and they come up clean without having to scrub.
I have lent my cupcake carriers to friends and family and have recommended them to a lot of people, and if given the chance I would happily buy more but my supermarket always seems to be out of stock as these have proven to be very popular and at a very reasonable price because these can be used a lot and stand up to a lot of use.
One thing that is a little annoying but I think it probably only happens to me because I love heaps of butter cream frosting on top of my cupcakes that sometimes I go overboard and put on too much and sometimes the cupcakes are too tall to fit under the top tray and the butter cream gets smeared onto the bottom of the top tray but not to the point where the top of the cupcake is ruined.
So all in all a great product that I absolutely love to bits and would like to own more!!
