Store: Rototuna, Hamilton
I love Pita Pit and have been several times since discovering it about a year ago, it is always such a yummy and healthy takeaway option and it actually fills you up unlike some other fast food joints which still leave you feeling hungry afterwards. The Rototuna Pita Pit is in such a great location, situated on Thomas Road in the block of shops,it is only a few minutes drive up the road from my house, but even better it is in the same building complex as my partners parents house, which means we do get Pita Pit quite a lot.
Pita has a great easy to use, guided step-by-step ordering system in place where you first choose the size of the pita you want, wither regular or petita and whether you want it plain or wholemeal (I think they also do gluten free pitas now to), or if your not wanting the pita itself there is an option to get it as a salad, this is also where you can pick out what meat you want. Once your pita has been selected you make your way over to the spreads and then to the salad bar which is always filled with such fresh produce such as lettuce, tomato, corn, olives, carrots, beetroot and pineapple, best of all you can choose as many or as few as you want and if you want more of an ingredient the staff are more than happy to do this for you, and with no extra cost (mind you the staff here are VERY generous with the toppings so it's not often that you need more). After selecting salads, there are arrange of cheeses and sauces available to finish off your pita. The pitas are wrapped in such a way that I can never do myself at home and then toasted or left fresh if you wish.
As well as serving up pitas and salads, Pita Pit also has an arrange of cold drinks and smoothies available as well as Ma Higgins chocolate brownies and cookies, wedges and pita crisps which are made in store, we have brought these a few times and they are tasty, however the dip that comes with these in tiny and doesn't come near to being enough for using with the bagful of crisps sadly. There are options to create combos by adding drinks, wedges or pita crisps to any pita purchase. They also have mini pitas for children with 3 fillings of choice which Miss 3 just loves!
Pita Pit is well worth trying especially if you after a healthy takeaway option, and with so many meats, cheeses and salads to choose from i'm sure there is to be a combination that you will love. I know I will definitely be returning to the Rototuna staff, and I love how friendly the staff always are. Most pitas range from $8 but I find they are well worth the price.

Pita Pit opened outside my local mall just after New Years, 2013, and I have been going there since. We go there about once a week, so long as we have the funds and shall continue to go.
The main thing that I love about this store is the staff, the couple who run it are really great and so friendly. They're always happy to see us and know us all by name now (and starting to remember our order off by heart ). They're even happy to, every now and then, charge us just for a pita on it's own, for my special needs daughter, who loves the pita.
The food is always well done, we have only had a wrong order three times and that forgetting to put the Garlic and Herb seasoning on our meat. Any time the pita breaks to much when they are wrapping it, they get a new one so that you don't have to deal with a cascade of food upon your lap.
A great store and great food.
Store: Henderson, Auckland.
I first went here not long after it had opened, so I have been going there for about five months now. The first thing that you will compare it to is Subway, and it is very similar. You pick what filling you want, my favourite is Chicken Ceaser (Chicken and Bacon), you then pick between plain or wholemeal pita and then a spread. Go down the line to pick what veges you want, they also have pineapple and beetroot. Then cheese, two sauces, salt and/or pepper and lastly if you want it grilled or fresh.
What I like about this particular shop is the staff and the couple that run the shop. We have been often enough, and they care enough, that the owners now know me and my family by name, and all the staff always greet us with a big smile and hello and always say goodbye, no matter how busy the shop may be.
The food always tastes great, is filling and just how I like it. The staff are fantastic and always has us feeling welcome and important. Pita Pit is now our favourite takeaway store.
