When these first came out on tv with their catchy tune my kids were hooked! , With their colourful cute characters and their softness that makes it so easy for kids to snuggle up to and drift off to lala land, what kid wouldn't fall in love. So my kids nagged and nagged every time we went into the warehouse and what first come to mind was oh boy bit over priced for what they are especially when buying for 2 kids , which really they are just a pillow that you can fold in half to make or resemble a pet .
So alas I might add we did buy some when they were on sale so 2 for the price of one, and really it's the best thing we have ever brought them. They go on holidays, to grandparents even outside to play. Best part about them is that they are extremely durable and I know as my kids have played tug a war with them, thrown them and dropped them from great heights and the stitching has not once come apart. The material used is so so soft and easy to wash , just chuck them in the washing machine and then hang on the line to dry.
Still wouldn't however pay the full price as bit extreme.
We got our youngest a Pillow Pet to entice him in to his very own "Big Boy Bed" He absolutely adores his pillow pet and you can quite often find him singing "Its a pillow, Its a pet, Its a pillow pet" Quite Cute! His older brother and sister also each have one now so we have a Ninja Turtle, All Black and A Lady Bug. They are used and played with every day!
They are exactly what they say they are, a pillow and a pet. Nothing at all misleading about them. The kids use them as pillows, my youngest folds his up and scoots around on it, pretends to feed it and tries to dress it up. He is more interested in his than the other two are. I like that they can fold easily for when we travel.
They are easy enough to wash and they do take a little bit of time to dry but that is to be expected. Its great that they wash up nice and stay soft, they also haven't faded and still look as good as new even though my two year old can be quite rough and I don't suppose scooting around the house is what they are made for so they are quite strong too! We love our Pillow Pets!!
You have all heard the phrase 'It's a pillow, It's a pet...It's a pillow pet' and yip that is exactly what it is. A cute soft snuggle animal 'pet' toy that when folded up looks like an animal but then opens up to become a pillow. Little boys, girls, and mums everywhere can not resist the cuteness that is a pillow pet!
Miss 7 is no exception. She has 4 of them: a unicorn, Dog, Ladybug and her novelty one she had to have for Christmas - a reindeer. They are a great toy to play with, a great toy to sleep with, and a really great toy to travel with (especially on long trips where kids need both entertaining AND sleep).
They are well made, bright colors, cute animals are just fun. But now they are also available in TV characters: Dora, TMNT, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, even Spongebob :) I am lucky because my daughter was infatuated with the cute and nicely priced pets but the over priced novelty pillows were just not of an interest to her. She loves her pillow pet collection and can not wait to get more. And I don't mind getting them for her. My only gripe: the velcro. But ive always had a love hate relationship with velcroe as I am sure anybody readinv this can relate too :)
My son decided he wanted to get a Pillow Pet for his sister for her birthday, we hadn't seen much of them at that point but decided it was a good idea (I'm sure he really wanted to get it for himself). Her favourite colour is yellow so we hunted high and low and managed to get the only bee left in all the stores we visited.
It's so amazingly soft that she fell in love with it straight away. Not long after he decided he needed one as well so a smaller dog was bought. They have both worn extremely well and get almost daily use, usually as a pillow but sometimes as a toy as well. They are the go to toy for when we travel, very handy to rest your head on in the car.
They are machine washable, often this doesn't mean that they'll come out looking pretty unfortunately, however Pillow Pets do, they dry reasonably quickly as well! We haven't had a lot of issues with the velcro, that may be because they spend most of their time in pillow mode and the flap to protect the grip side of the velcro is protecting it.
Two years later these pillows are still loved in our house. If you're looking for a good gift for any child I would recommend them, probably up to around 8, and if you're wondering if it'll with stand the punishment your child will give it, I'd be surprised if it didn't, mine aren't gentle with theirs!
These are just the cutest things. My girl hasn't really played with soft toys for a while but when these came out she had to have one. We got her the lion pillow pet and she loves it and has to have it on her bed every night but will bring it out the lounge during the day if she wants to rest her head on the couch or just for a cuddle.
The lion is super super soft and it has the softest most fluffiest mane. The material is dreamily soft so you just want to cuddle up to them and they are also really soft for resting your head on too. My girl is 11 now and still loves it and would like to get another one too. My son aged 1 loves his sisters pillow pet so we recently bought him one to put away for christmas we got him a monkey one because they had the matching pillow pet blankets available in that animal as well so we got him the set.
The dog is really soft and cuddly too. It was so hard to pick which one to get as the range is now huge with animals from dinosaurs and unicorns, to dogs and ladybugs, monkeys and lions and there are now all blacks pillow pets as well as some characters like Thomas the Tank Engine. You can also now get pillow pets that have lights on their backs which project onto the ceiling!! The final sell factor for us was that we could get the matching blanket though as the blanket is so soft and fluffy and will be great for him when he is in a bed as something special to have in bed with him.
My girl has had hers for a long time now and is still in really good condition considering how well used it is, the pillow hasn't teared anywhere and it is still as soft and fluffy as the day we got it so other than the odd grubby mark on it it is stiil like new. Definitely a very cool toy that children of all ages seem to really like and as there are so many options kids would surely find one that will become their favourite cuddle toy!
I love how the pillow pets feel they are the softest ever, with their soft plush outer material and the soft pillow on the inside they are the perfect combination of softness!! The colours are perfect too as their soft purple and pinks, jet black, bright red how could you not fall in love.
I have nieces that just love their pillow pets and bring them to my home for every sleepover and use them more as a pillow in the flat position rather than the animal shape position. When not in the rolled up animal position there is a flap of material that goes over the rough side of the velcro which is great because the last thing you want is the feel of the scratchy velcro on you face just as you are snuggling in and getting comfortable.
I saw pillow pets advertised on television well before I saw one on the shops and I was actually very surprised at the size of the pillow, it is a lot bigger than I would have thought, is is just smaller than a normal pillow so is perfect even for an adult to use as pillow if need be. So when my nieces come to stay that is the only pillow they use for sleep time. My smaller dog is fond of the pillow pets too and is quite often found pulling the pillow pet off the bed and snuggling into it while laying on the floor!
With me being an Early Childhood Teacher quite a few of the children at my centre bring in their pillow pets for show and tell, and I am blown away with the range of animals, bug/insects available and now with dinosaurs and dragons thrown into the mix I think just about every base is covered and who doesn't love dinosaurs!! Such a great idea.
Recently I have even seen pillow pet blankets advertised...I may have to get some for stocking stuffers this christmas as I know my nieces would love matching pillows and blankets and if the blankets are as soft as the pillows they will be fabulous.
The material the pillow pets are made out is must be top quality materials because my nieces pets are used all the time, hardly ever washed, and have lasted since they first came out and are still looking new, even the colours are still bright and hasn't faded at all! I am very impressed with this product they are a win win product in my opinion!
The pillow pets have been advertised so much on TV and the tune is so catchy my girls requested one each for Christmas. I had already sorted their presents so I suggested they ask their grandparents. My girls rang Nana and didn't even say hello all they said was "We want pillow pets for Christmas!" My mum loves to spoil her grandchildren so she got them one each. Miss 4.5 has the butterfly and Miss 3 the ladybug.
They are so cute if I didn't have to leave room in the bed for my husband and the cats I would probably have several of my own. They feel so soft If one of them gets left out in the lounge once the kids have gone down for the night I will snuggle up with it while watching TV.
One of my carekids loves the ladybug when she arrives she heads straight down to the bedroom and claims it. I have had to rescue it from the sand pit a few times. As a result of this and being slept with every night I have washed them. I did a gentle wool wash in the machine as directed. I was surprised how dry they were when they came out of the machine. A still hung them out in the sunshine and they looked like new.
My daughters both know that their pillow pets can change from a pillow to a pet (they know the jingle off by heart) but always chose to have it in pillow mode. My girls adore theirs and are drawn to the displays in the stores. I am sure they would love to have more. They are very reasonably priced especially when on special. I see they are advertising new pillow pet products including a night light and a blanket. I am just waiting for the kids to start begging for these.
Pillow Pets are a plush pillow that folds into an animal or an insect toy. You can get fantasy style ones, like unicorns, dragons and dinosaurs. However, we don't yet own any of the fantasy range. Pillow Pets offer a pretty exciting range of creatures though and we often stop to look in the big bins of them in various toy and department stores. My daughters were both spoilt at Christmas with some Pillow Pets.
Baby was given a Purple Hippo one and a Red LadyBug one. What I love about these toys are they are pretty safe. There's not much on them that could come off. She will snuggle with them if she is tired and I know they are very comfortable to lie on. They don't go in the cot though, as I don't believe in pillows for babies til they are much older. Her Purple Hippo has been "stolen" on many occasions by adults who visit. They find the Hippo to be a very appealing colour and too snuggly to resist.
My eldest daughter also got a Red Ladybug one. She sleeps with it as her pillow and absolutely adores it. She does wish she had more than one though. Roll on her birthday, I'm sure! Recently she was sick all over her one, and it went in the washing machine. Came out good as new. Love that it is fully machine washable!
I also like that the velcro joiner has a little fabric flap that you can put over the velcro. It means that when it is being a pillow, it doesn't catch on things. That's important to me because a lot of my work clothes would easily get pulls in the fabric if they came in contact with velcro. Overall, really love these. Can't wait to invest in some more, and am seriously considering getting myself one too.
