I have often seen Sanpellegrino in the shops and wanted to try it, but not knowing if I would like it or not I have not done this. I was lucky enough to be picked for a sample. I've always loved the shape of the bottles and knew if I got them, I would be using the bottles for something else.

When I first got them, I wasnt sure if they were twist top or the good old fashioned bottle opener type. When I saw they were bottle opener ones I had a slight panic as I wasnt sure if I had a bottle opener, after a good hunt I discovered it. I found the lid of the Limonata very hard to get off, which will make it difficult for those with hand trouble to cope with, but I didn't give up.

Aranciata Rossa: I love the colour of this, I checked the label to see if it had any colouring but because the writing is so small I couldn't read it. I had never tried a blood orange drink so want sure what to expect, but what I got wiped any "orange drink" preconceptions right out of my head. If it has an enhancement of any kind you cant tell. It wasnt very fizzy which suited me and just a slight tang. It also didn't taste anything like orange which gave me a shock, as I expected that taste we have learnt to associate with all orange drinks. It was so refreshing to have something with a totally different taste. I would get this again.

Limonata: This is a name I have heard heaps about recently, but as I hate waste I have never got it to try. Boy if they are all as good as this I wish I had tried them ages ago, I loved it. I enjoy drinks with a tang and having that puckered fish look and feeling doesn't worry me as tang is good. I didn't want this bottle to end, in fact I wanted another one right after as it wasnt large enough. I will be buying this again.

As an excuse that I can use the bottle again, I will be getting more and then I will make funky little candle sticks out of them. This will be a treat drink at the price:size ratio, but at least I know I will enjoy it & I will take that big step out of my comfort zone and try some of the others.

"Good things come in small packages" the saying goes, and drinks like this sure do prove that point. I've been knocking around this world for over 60 years, but I haven't traveled as much as I wanted to. Italy was one of the many countries I wanted to visit in my youth but a war, then a family, and then an injury all conspired to keep me from ever getting there. I think that is one of the reasons I enjoy posh foreign kai as much as I enjoy a good hangi.

I first tried the Limonata on it's own and found it very refreshing although it was a little tart for y tastes. I have had a sweet tooth for longer than I care to admit, as my dentist and denture-maker will both profitably agree. Because of that I wasn't a fano of this drink on it's own. Where it did really appeal came when I mixed it with a very sweet iced tea. Then it became something wonderful that I will be saving up my pennies to try again.

Hoping for something a little sweeter, I moved on to the Aranciata Rossa. It was a lot more to my tastes, being sweeter but not so sweet as to be sickly. I thought the bottle was a very good sized portion for one, but I was really hoping to have tried the iced tea trick with it again. Didn't happen, it was just too nice and was gone too fast.

These are some of the nicest drinks I have come across in a long time, and from what I have read and visits with some Italian friends, I think it fair to say these are very authentic drinks. If you want something different to the usual over-carbonated, flavoured sugar-syrups you buy these days then you should try these.

I have to say, these are some very impressive drinks. I was only given 2 flavours: Limonata and Aranciata Rossa, but they were good enough. At $2.50 a bottle, these drinks are as affordable as they are delicious, which is very much! The shape of the bottles is rather cool, In fact they are too cool to waste so I have them sitting on my desk awaiting their next purpose. I also loved the fact that they have the type of lid that you would find on a beer bottle, it meant that I was able to use a bottle opener for my first time!

The "Limonata" was nice, but it had a bit too much of a kick to it, if you know what I mean.It was also a bit sour, so one sip containing a lot of natural sugar, citric acid and bubbles of carbon dioxide gave me a bit of a wake-up call! I'm not saying that this drink is absolutely horrible, 'cause it's not, it is actually nice to have when you need something to kick that tired feeling out the door. As far as flavour goes for this drink, it is just a little bit better than homemade lemonade without the fizz, but isn't as good as the Sprite or L&P you buy in the shops.

The "Aranciata Rossa", or "Blood Orange", was absolutely delicious, it was fizzy and had a bit of a zing, but it was also very sweet, it was heaven in a bottle!!! I have never seen nor tried a Blood Orange before, but after trying this drink, I'm tempted to give one a taste. Not only was this drink naturally sweet, it also tasted rich in sugar, so it is still a bit of a waker-upper! All in all, for both flavours, the Sanpellegrino people have done a very good job on this product, so I highly recommend it for you to try. I really hope that I will be able to find more Sanpellegrino drinks, because I am now anxious to try thee two drinks again, my mouth is actually watering at the thought of it. Ciao!

I have seen these at my local supermarket and have always been interested in trying them. However, I was put off by the idea of them being an unknown to me. So when KIWIreviews gave me the opportunity to try a couple of different flavours, I jumped at the chance. I'm currently breastfeeding so I'm always looking for something a bit different and non-alcoholic to drink. I opened these drinks with my husband. My daughter was not interested in trying them.

Limonata:
This drink was incredibly sour and bitter. It was like drinking quite potent lemon juice, skin and all. My husband quite predictably loved this drink. He declared it delicious and watched my face with great amusement as I was drinking my portion. It was too sour for me. But it reminded both of us of his favourite sorbet, lemon lime. It had all the hallmarks, with pulp, pith and juice.

I mixed a small portion of this with gelatin to see if I could make a jelly. It didn't work too good. The liquid didn't set 100%, possibly because of the mineral water. The jelly was too sour for me again, though I could have added some sugar.

Aranciata Rossa:
The blood orange was very sweet. It was obviously orange, but not horribly sweet like Fanta. In fact I was a little worried about this being orange flavour because I can not stand fizzy orange soda drinks. However, the mineral water gave it a salty fizz flavour as well. I enjoyed this way more than I thought I might after the Limonata.

My husband found it a bit too sweet and definitely had his favourite in the Limonata instead. The bottles are quite small for $2.50 each and we got less than half a glass each out of them. However, I suspect that I will be picking up some Limonata as a treat every now and then for him in the future. And if I'm honest I will be more willing to give the other flavours a go as well.

I am always a sucker for a fruity beverage. Carbonated is usually an improvement, but I've been known to enjoy still juice drinks too. This, being from Italy, was certainly one I have been wanting to try for a while, and so I was very happy to have the opportunity at last. The two flavours for review were Limonata (Lemon) and Aranciata Rossa (Blood Orange).

Limonata - This was really crisp and refreshing to me. I enjoy the taste of slightly 'hard' lemonade, and used to make my own once upon a time. This tasted like a real lemonade should, not some fancy over-produced homogenised beverage in a plastic bottle. It had a little bit of sediment, which was easy disbursed with a quick swirl of the bottle, leaving me with a really nice drink that also has a lot of potential in home-made sorbet, cocktail mixers, and quite possibly as a replacement if you find yourself without any real lemons to juice in baking. Yes, it's THAT lemony!

Aranciata Rossa - The rich, deep orange colour of this drink, even if slightly enhanced with some artificial colourings, told me straight away what to expect. That sweet orange tang, highlighted with a slightly bitter tartness common to this type of orange. Light carbonation, no chalky tones... I was expecting something superior, and I wasn't disappointed. Very refreshing, nicely sweet but with enough tangy undertones to keep it on the right side of too sweet, and full of promise and potential. I foresee a few attempts to make a Sanpellegrino Aranciata Rossa cheesecake in the future. Wink Icon

Overall, these were great! Not 'everyday items' great, but certainly in the 'if you have a few spare coins and want something special" great. I expect to be heading into the nearest stockist (which I think in Hamilton may be "Nosh") and grabbing a few to play with in the #FoodLab. The bottles are seriously cute, and I have an idea for modifying them into little oil-lamps. They are comfortable to hold, and contain a good "thirsty day" portion. Just remember to grab your bottle opener, because these are NOT twist-tops! Wink Icon

On the hot days we have had lately there is nothing better to relax with than a nice cold drink. As a non-drinker I enjoy gourmet soft drinks as an extra special drink. I had never tried Sanpellegrino drinks until I was given a couple of varieties to review.

My first impression was the cute shape of the bottle. It is far too gorgeous to put in the recycling bin once it is empty. I think I will use the bottles as bud vases. The bottles are a great shape to hold in your hand, very ergonomic. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it had to be opened with a bottle opener. It has been a very long time since we have had to use one in this house, I had to hunt for ours. In this age of twist tops I was surprised to find I needed one.

I was eager to try the blood orange drink. I love the grapefruit tang that this fruit gives. I very generously allowed my husband to share my bottle. His reaction upon sipping it was "That's just plain weird." I think he was expecting an orange rather than blood orange drink. I found the drink to be refreshing and something I would definitely grab next time I see it in store.

My daughters (3 and 4.5) were keen to try the lemon flavour. I was surprised that they both enjoyed it because it had a very strong lemon flavour. It reminded me of the home-made lemonade my mother and grandmother used to make with added bubbles. This was my favourite of the two flavours probably because it brought back childhood memories.

Although these are more expensive than most drinks they are still an affordable treat. I really enjoyed them and liked that they weren't too fizzy. With real fruit juice (12% blood orange and 16% lemon) it is great to know it is naturally flavoured. Thank you KIWIreviews for introducing me to this delicious drink.
