Compared to the book Spider-man vs. Mysterio, this book is much better. There was slightly more action, but this wasn't what made the story more fun for me to read. I am a big fan of trans-species genetics which is what Dr. Curtis Connors used to try and re-grow is lost arm and then became the Lizard, so this gave me a much cooler story to work with. I actually grabbed this book because the Lizard was the main enemy in the new Spider-man movie, so I was interested to see the revised written edition based on Stan Lee's work.
The artwork was cool, although in a couple of places it just looked like a different artist had done them, but the difference was only slight and wasn't disturbing, and it's only a theory. The story itself was okay, it was only a few paragraphs of text, but it was much less sassy than the other "Spider-man vs." book. Although there wasn't a lot of action, I detected a slight air of excitement, so I can strongly guess that if someone around the age of 8 were to read this story, the air would become much larger. Overall, as far as the book goes, this story was, at least, tolerable.
The price is good, for a book of this size and content, $8.00 is an awesome price. I was able to read this book a couple of times over before writing this review, and I think I'll hold onto it for just a little longer and read it a couple more times before putting it in my "for my brother" stack. With all things considered, this book is only slightly below my average enjoyment level, so I think that the author did a good job.
Yet another winner from the Marvel Spider-Man series. This is another action packed adventure as Spider-Man helps to save Dr Connors who has unwittingly turned himself into "The Lizard". Miss Four and Miss Six loved this and I really liked that the message in this book is about the importance of family and just being together. I hadn't realised that all the Spider-Man adventures had a little value/moral message underpinning the story line so I love these books more and more with every one that we read.
The glossy pictures are so good you can follow the story without the text which is perfect for Miss Four and Miss Six is able to read this as the text and story line is so simple.
I would definitely recommend these for ages four years and up and especially for any Spider-Man loving boys. At $8 this is fantastic value for money and a perfect gift or reward.
