The Skeleton Key product reviews

Caroline, a live-in nurse, is hired to care for an elderly woman's ailing husband in their home - a foreboding and decrepit Gothic mansion in the marshy backwoods just outside of New Orleans. Intrigued by the enigmatic couple and the dark and mysterious surroundings, Caroline begins to explore the old mansion.

Armed with a skeleton key that unlocks every door, she discovers a hidden attic room that holds a deadly and terrifying secret. Caroline soon discovers that the mansion is haunted by a pair of century old spirits. The spirits are evil and are manipulating the living to fit their desires, and Caroline herself is at the centre of one of their sinister schemes.

A very slow moving movie. It drags in so many places and you keep wandering what is going on but when it eventually pans out you realise how well it was done. More to do with voodoo then horror but I guess its the trying to figure out who the bad person is than anything else. I actually wouldn't call it a horrow more a very slow thriller.

I guess the lesson you learn in this movie is 'keep your nose out of other peoples stuff'. When Caroline is hired as a live in nurse for an elderly couple in a very old house she finds a room that she should just stay out of.

If you like the supernatural and magic then this movie will be perfect for you. It has some great acting from Kate Hudson. But it seems to take a very long time to get anywhere. Also the whole time your watching it you just keep thinking 'stay out of it - has nothing to do with you'. Kept thinking I wouldn't do that and what the hell is she doing that for?

It is lovely seeing New Orleans and all of its history and if it was faster paced this would be a great movie. Has all the elements but just doesn't quite get there.

A horror movie set in New Orleans... I haven't seen many that are decent, and the few that I have seen are very low budget and not worth watching again. This movie, whilst nothing spectacular is good for at least one viewing.

Caroline takes on a job at a secluded house in New Orleans owned by an elderly couple. She gets given a skeleton key and begins to explore the house, things begin to get strange when she finds books, candles etc in the attic that have been used for voodoo practices.

There isn't a huge amount of special effects in this film, relying more on set design to create the spooky vibe in the movie. There is a big storm at one point which was done really well and pushed the spooky metre up. While the acting, set etc does combine well to create a spooky vibe the plot let's the movie down as there are too many moments when it lags.
