From Waitangi Restaurant Bay of Islands, the views are almost as spectacular as the cuisine itself. While you dine in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, you look out over the lagoon style pools and a glimpse of romantic Russell across the bay.
Your choice of fine a la carte dining features freshly caught seafood, oysters and other locally sourced products, or you can indulge yourself in the impressive buffet of fresh produce. When it comes to memorable restaurants, Bay of Islands has none finer than the Waitangi Restaurant.

I totally LOVE this restaurant and the food served there! Yum! We visited here recently as we were staying in the motel when i read the information about the restaurant I knew i recognised the name of the head chef (Jason Hall) and knew we simply had to eat here for dinner. That choice is one ill never regret and totally cant wait until we can visit again (just so we can go for dinner here)!
The restaurant itself is tidy, classy and upperclass but not over the top all rolled into one. The waiting staff are friendly and met your needs but not over the top or stopping at your table every 2minutes being annoying which is great! We both had a drink each and service of these was prompt as well, our meals also arrived in a timely matter despite the restaurant being pretty full with other guests.
My fiancee and i both had the steak meal which came with roasted vege's underneath it ~ the steak was cooked to the exact way we liked it ~ cooked through with a slightly pink bit through the middle. The roasted veges were also cooked perfectly and full of flavour. We both choose to have a mushroom sauce on top of our steak and this too was cooked perfectly. When we first saw the meal it was on a smaller side (we thought) but after eating it we decided it really was the perfect amount (size).
Even though we were pretty full we just had to try dessert while we were there! Another decision i wont regret, if you visit here, definately make sure you try the dessert! I had the creame brulee and my fiancee had bread and butter pudding. The cream brulee was to die for and the reason i fell in love with this dessert ~ the flavour, the texture, the look was just perfect. The bread and butter pudding was a great flavour but a very weird texture (however neither of us have had bread and butter pudding before so we guessed this was just the 'normal' texture of this dessert.
Totally, definately recommend to others and cant wait to visit again ourselves!
