My daughters love Fireman Sam, but don't get to see it very often, so they were delighted when I showed them Ready for Action. The nearly three year old is always telling us how great Fireman Sam is while my four year old will sit and watch it for hours without saying anything. This DVD was an hour long (6 episodes) and they asked to watch it again as soon as it was finished.
As an adult I find the episodes are very predictable. The fire crew are having a training and suddenly they have to put into practice what they learnt. Fireman Sam will warn about something but it the people don't listen to him so he has to save them. There are some very good safety messages for both adults and children. Watching this DVD taught me how important it was to turn your compost.
It is a DVD that hits it's target audience of preschool children. It certainly entertains them with the added bonus that it could save their life one day. Now we have started our Fireman Sam DVD collection we will be adding to it especially as some of the older episodes can be picked up very cheaply.
