Product reviews...
I was so happy when i was chosen to review this. Grapefruit is my ultimate favourite flavour and its a bit hard to come by. When i opened it, the smell isn't too strong but its got a definite freshness to it of the grapefruit and aloe. The packaging is a bit low key, and i think for the price many would miss this on the shelf. But in saying that - it goes with the image of Earthwise.
When i first used this i was disappointed with how fast it flowed from the bottle and i always end up using more than i need. I also tend to have to use two lots on my scrubber as in the shower it doesn't lather as well as some and I run out.
I decided to let my children have a squirt of this in their bath one night and i was AMAZED at how many bubbles it created! It was awesome. My son suffers from quiet bad eczema and reacts to most normal products. His skin came out a little red on the inflamed areas, but he never complained and sometimes even the hot water irritates his skin. I was pleased with this result and he keeps asking for it to be used in the bath (we also combine it with a bit of almond oil and tea tree oil for his skin).
I would defiantly buy this again for the children's bath as they just loved having bubbles, it was such a nice treat. I do think that it is a bit overpriced at $12.99 but for the children i would consider buying it, but possible not solely for myself as it wasn't quiet up to my expectations value wise.
I was sent this one on it's own because, being well over retirement age, pretty much all of my hair has gone the way of the moa, so the other products were not going to work well for me, and I also have trouble using bar soaps so I was pretty keen to try a body wash.
Apart from the stylish packaging, the first thing you will notice will be the smell. Delicate, natural, not too manly or feminine. Pretty much spot on for a gender-neutral personal hygiene product that you can use yourself, and have handy ion case of guests and relax knowing the chances of them not liking it are pretty slim. I think the grapefruit is the bit that puts it right in that sweet-spot. Lavender or anything else too flowery would have turned me right off.
This stuff is pretty liquid, it's not a thick gel as I was expecting, so of course the first time I used it I dumped way too much onto my loofah and wasted a pile of it. Maybe if there was a way to make it just as natural, but a little more of a syrup consistency it would be a little more appealing for me personally. I don't have much free money, so wasting a product is just annoying.
I decided to just pour it into my hand and lather it on first, then use the scrubber, which worked a lot better. Once it was doing the job it worked a treat, giving me a good clean without any of that caustic chemical sting that irritates my old eyes and nose the way some soaps and washes have in the past. It also rinsed off quickly and easily, leaving my skin feeling clean, smooth and not at all irritated.
I was pretty happy with it, and still feeling that way. The bottle is getting a bit lower than I would want, because I am pretty sure some of my younger whanau have been sneaking use of it when they grab a shower after working on rebuilding the back patio for me, but I guess that is just part of the price of getting some "free" labour.
Well this Aloe Vera and Grapefruit body wash arrived just as we had run out of our usual shower gel so I was pleased to have a more body and earth friendly product to use. I and the family have been using this for a couple of weeks now I think so its had a good test.
I love the container as it is small enough to sit in our shower shelf and go in my swim bag. Its easy to open and close the lid and both the bottom and top are flat so you can store it either way.
I found the liquid a little runny to begin with but am now used to the consistency so just use a little. The body wash lathers up really well so you don't need a lot to get a good clean! I love the smell and am really happy to use this when shaving as well. I often don't bother moisturising but have found that my skin isn't as dry as usual using this so I am not feeling the need to moisturise as much either.
I have been using the Earthwise soap on my girls as they have eczema so was keen to try this with them. They all love it. We haven't been able to use bubble bath liquid for a while so this is perfect. It is a fantastic bubble bath so I have been pouring this into little bottles so they can use it for bubble baths to their hearts content. None of them have reacted to this and they haven't complained of it irritating their eyes either. A big thumbs up from them.
I wouldn't pay $12.99 for me to use this but I would for the children as this is comparable to what I pay for their bath products anyway. I will just keep an eye out for it on special and stock up as it is definitely a product I would like to keep using both for me and the kids.
So far I have trialled many Earthwise products via KIWIreviews and I have been pleasantly surprised by many of them. In fact I am now officially converted to the laundry liquid and the spray cleaner as well.
I went home and immediately had a shower, and have been using this body wash for over a week now. I'm so impressed with it. You need very little of the gel to get a good lather. I needed less than what I usually use to get an all over body clean. The smell was absolutely yummy. The grapefruit gives the gel a zesty zing. Its a great uplifting scent, and I love using it in the morning because it makes me feel more awake afterwards. My previous gel was just a cheapy with no scent whatsoever. I can't believe what I have been missing!
The bottle is a great design. I love the flat top and flat bottom. That means that as I get to the end of the bottle, I can easily flip it over and get the last dregs out over the course of the next few days. The only thing I found was that the hole in the top was bigger than necessary. So the flow of the gel is pretty fast. Once I understood that though, it was easy to modify the way I was pouring to lessen the amount coming out.
I tried to find this bodywash at my local supermarket but they didn't have it. So I went through the Earthwise facebook page and they were able to tell me where to source it locally. Brilliant service from the team at Earthwise! I picked up a bottle of this for $4.99 from my local Pak N' Save. I'm not sure if I somehow got this on super special or not, but at less than $5 I can't go past this gel. Its another great product from Earthwise, easy to use, effective (I can still smell it on my skin after my shower) and likely to find its way into my trolley next time as well.
I have been lucky enough to try earthwise bodywash, and I must say I almost fainted with the price for 400mls, I dont think I have spent that much on a bodywash before so depending on how long it last will depend on if I buy it.
But in saying that about the price its benefits have been great, I get rashes down my legs and often even water stings them, so other soaps hurt as well. I just grind my teeth and get past it, causing myself pain at night when im sleeping as i get hot which hurts my rashes more. I have been using the earthwise now for 4 days with no hurting of my rash and no soreness during the night, even while in the shower after using it the water no longer stings.
When I opened this product I didnt smell anything right away but reading the front and it saying Grapefruit & Aloe Vera Body Wash I couldn't get away without having a smell of it. YUM it smelled almost good to eat, its a wonder something that yummy can wash us. After reading the back saying use 10-15mls and wash in also It's grey water and septic tank safe I thought this is great, as i have recently had my water bills and i dont like that too much from kids having baths. So with it being grey water i can use this in the kids bath as bubbles or washing them and then use the water to water my garden, win win really.
It is a great product and I would recommend it :)
I was really impressed with this bodywash. I normally use soap bars as I find you get less of a build up of soap scum on the shower walls so it was nice to use a bodywash for a change. I loved the mild grapefruit scent which wasn't overpowering and you could tell it was a natural plant based fragrance rather than artificial. The thing I liked the most was the size of the bottle. I am probably not as eco-conscious as I should be but do buy bigger packets or in bulk when I can to minimise the amount of packaging I go through so the bigger bottle is great.
The bodywash was easy to use I put a small amount on my body buffer and as I rubbed it over my skin it built up a good lather and then rinsed off again easily. It left the skin feeling soft and smooth and not at all irritated, leaving behind just a hint of fragrance which wasn't too overpowering. I also used it as a bubble bath for my daughter's bath and was surprised by just how much bubbles it created.
I made a roll on soap for my daughter using an old deodorant bottle and some yellow colouring which she really enjoyed. We also used it as lubricant for the water slide when she got home from school all hot and bothered and even after getting covered in it she didn't have any skin irritation like she does when I use dishwashing liquid on the water slide.
I would buy this again as I like how it is plant based, and it will last a long time as it is a big bottle and you only need to use a small amount to build up a good lather in the shower. I am confident to use it on the whole family because of it being plant based although I haven't tried it on my baby as I only use baby soap on his delicate skin at this stage.
Our whole family love Earthwise body wash. The girls (4 and 2.5 years) love it because it makes lots of bubbles. It lathers up amazingly well for something that is more watery than most body washes I have used. Thankfully although the kids manage to get the shower walls covered in bubbles it rinses off well and leaves no soapy residue for me to clean off.
I thought because of its ability to foam up it would be great for the kids to blow bubbles with. It was a big failure but my nineteen month old carekid thought it was great to play with anyway. She managed to get herself covered in it. She often has excema but knowing this was a natural product I wasn't worried that it would irritate her skin.
My husband loves that it doesn't smell all girly (flowery or fruity) like most body washes we have had. I liked that its mild scent meant that it wouldn't clash with any perfume I wear. He found it cleansed his skin without drying it out even more. Both of us enjoyed that it didn't make our acne worse.
I found a little went long way which helped make it more economical but still more expensive than I would pay for a similar product. The price was the only down side for me. I used it on a shower puff and loved the feeling on my skin. It made shaving very easy as the razor just glided over my skin. The result was very smooth legs. I believe that this is a luxury product which is hidden by the plain packaging and and sold in the supermarket. This is a great addition to a gift hamper but I think it is too costly for everyday use.
