Product reviews...
Well, I am afraid to say that for the first time, this is one klutz product that I didn't find all that good. Now, the reason for this dislike is that I found it more suitable for girls who are younger than me. The whole book was filled with pages for "my greatest wishes" or "people I love", all things that I don't enjoy doing at the age that I'm at.
At first I saw this as a regular drawing book, only instead of a pencil and rubber there was just a white pen, which I found took more time to dry than regular ink, and so when I closed the book and opened it again I saw that some of the ink had come off on the other page and so it left white splotches on it. However, the pen can still be useful - it can be used for making thin white lines on paintings as the ink is more like an air-drying paint once it's out of the pen.
The cover was okay - you know how they say you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, well this time the cover design was more like a small advertisement. It had little messages that told you a bit about the book in an advertising way, and the art on the cover also showed an example of something you could draw in the book, only you just draw the white lines as that's all you can really do in the book because the pages were quite dark. It would be hard to use colouring pencils, so that reduces the scope of what you can do with this book.
I don't agree with the price, this is a rather simple book, and $21 is just too much for such a small and simple item. If I think about what girls do and think about, I can see that this book is actually a good way to get some of the stuff that gets bottled up in their heads out onto paper to look back on and remember. All in all, this wasn't a great book for me, but probably not a bad book in general, it just has the occasional downside on things that are related to the different brain wiring between genders. But, I have said everything I have to say, so I hope you find this book better than I did.
This 76 page journal will keep a young girl very happy for hours. It is a very busy journal with every page having a different theme with lots of different pictures.
The background on each page is dark but this is so the included white gel pen will show up when used.
This journal is more I would say for a girl as it has the obligatory pages on fairies etc . Pretty much every page has a lovely inspirational quote or suggestion. ie "Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom." Marcel Proust. I loved this.
I like page 68 "When you go to the movies, do you ever wonder how people look in the dark when they think no one can see them?"!
Whilst some pages are pretty busy with not much room for writing others have a lot of space to write in. This is the difference between a journal and a diary in that a diary is all about your own writing whereas a journal is more an adventure and creates a world to get lost in. Even without the gimmick of the white gel pen (which adds to the adventure and specialness of course) this is a really unique journal.
Absolutely perfect as a gift for a 8 year old and up this will be a very treasured possession that you can imagine being held onto and pulled out of a storage box, to be reminisced over, in years to come.
