3... 2... 1... GO! This is how I felt when I tried Auckland's new fun freaky attraction: Rocket Ropes! I must say that it was really, and I mean really, scary. On the first level, I was okay, I was only 3m above the ground, didn't stop my acrophobia kicking into gear though! The second level was scarier; IT WAS 6 METRES IN THE AIR! The activities on both levels were fun and freaky, the Ripper Zippers were my absolute favourite, especially since you had a clip-on zip line trolley, it made things MUCH more interesting!
I was absolutely blown away when I saw the Rocket course tower while I was at Butterfly Creek, but what was even more cool was that the mini train went right underneath it! The end of the croc course was really fun; first, I had to do a long ripper zipper connecting the tower to the end section, then I clipped myself onto a swing which brought me over to a net, I had to climb across the net and then go down a slide. Now THAT'S what I call a grand finale! There was a bit of confusion with the next course, the Rocket course - the staff members said that I had to be 12 or over to go on it, but the website said that I was already old enough!
The levels both seemed really long; they looked almost 45 minutes long each! I even had to do the top level in half an hour before the place closed, I was nearly pooping my pants at the thought of being stuck 6m in the air after the gates were shut! Some parts of the top level acted like seesaws, and when I went on the first one like this, I was screaming at the top of my lungs! There were some tunnel pieces halfway through the top level that were very scary, if it was just a solid tunnel I would have felt okay, but since it came in segments, crossing them made me feel unsafe even though there were two safety clips securing me to one of the wire ropes. I had some parts on the course where I lost confidence, which was when my mum kept mentioning me making a big SPLAT on the ground and telling me not to land on my brother if I fell down. Those comments were just plain evil!
The website was great, it tells you everything you need to know about the two courses and the other activities, like the Long Drop and the Giant Sky Swing; it even has a list of questions and answers! I was glad to hear that they were going to be building a toddler's course, that way my 3 year-old brother can be a part of the fun next time we go up.
I have so got to come back here again, and this time, I'm going to try the Rocket course, the Long Drop and the Giant Sky Swing!
